Making ET more popular
making et more popular require adding (as variable!) iron sights and higher body damage.
it’s successfull for a reason.
ET was successful too but its an old game.

Higher body damage? For these have etpub dmg svars…

Ironsights? Tce/CQB/EF have Ironsight…

But there is no one mod, that have all features…

Also for these, we need a new mod, developed by the community.

That will make the game less interesting.

A lot of folks are talking about changing the same gameplay elements that made ET so successful. I think that’s a recipe for disaster.

I would love to see an engine release that caught on that did not focus on graphics updates, but rather bug fixes and enhancements that just make the engine itself easier to maintain.

Agreed.

If I would have the time, I would start a new project which fixes bugs, improves netcode and a modular anticheat system, so the engine itself can be opensource but the AC can be closed source.

The pak system could use a ton of work as well.

Sooooooo …

So as someone else said, the players are lazy. I don’t think a public engine mod will catch on simply because the players won’t install it. It would be easy (and absolutely essential!!!) to add functionality to a new engine that forces the newest version to be used, but that doesn’t solve the issue of the old, official engine that does not notify players.

That would be so ****ing awesome. Every modder working together making a ‘pro/fun/realism/etc’-in-one mod. With the right settings, you have an all different gameplay :stuck_out_tongue:

Those who still want to play, they’ll keep on playing. Those who are determined to leave, they’ll come back… eventually :D
True say.

Well, if you want to advertise ET somehow, I can make a video (I remember using that camera movement application, Smireboule or what was it called). And yeah, custom mods was what ruined ET mostly.

Also, I remember Hirntot servers running almost unmodded EtPro back in 2008-09.
