Major problem with ET 2.6, shrub, fortymod, and etpro

Ok, im a new member to these forums, but im having some major problems with playing et now, everytime i play et, i either get a servces.exe error and my computer restrts on me, OR i get a blue screen of death (on XP ) saying
" Kernal_data_inpage_error"
with lots of funky hex code after it…

Ok i did a complete reformatt and reinstal of xp and et after it happened to me for a day, after some1 suggested it was a netsky virus, ive managed to rule that out, but now on the new install it happened again, so i installed sp2 for xp and all the security updates and all that…now it’s still happenening…

I was able to make a .bat so that wen services.exe errored and wanted to restart my comp that it would restart services and let me continue…but then et doesnt work >.<

ive got the error logs

it closed down…

szAppName : services.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.2180
szModName : ncobjapi.dll szModVer : 5.1.2600.2180 offset : 00001f3f

and created error reports here…

C:\DOCUME~1\MERCUR~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER156d.dir00\services.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\MERCUR~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER156d.dir00\appcompat.txt

and ive got a .zip of all my errors and some .hdmp and .mdmp files here…

http://www.mercuryrising.oble.net/etstuff/errors.zip

and out of event veiwer is…
Faulting application services.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module ncobjapi.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00001f3f.

now i do know for a fact that it is et, becuase ive tried every other game i have…rtcw quake 3, c&c generals, Halo, emporer:rotmk, ron, medieval tw, knights of the old republic 1 & 2…i love et to death…but now that i cant play im angry and frustrated…and help / idea’s any1

“Kernel_data_inpage_error” Are resources/memory errors, you need to check and verify a few things in order to solve this problem, don’t asume anything and rule nothing out before checking it.

#1 Download memtest+ from http://www.memtest.org/ and let it test your memory
make sure no errors are found.

#2 This could be a driver problem, make sure you have the latest drivers of the following
hardware:

  • Videocard
  • Soundcard
  • Chipset drivers

#3 Since memory is also being managed together with your ‘pagefile’ it could be
that the pagefile is located on a bad sector on your harddrive.
Download the diagnostic hdd util from your hdd branch and make sure you select the most
extended test.

Try those first and let us know.

You are missing one poll option, and that is “problem with my own machine”

Since you are, it seems, the only person having this sort of trouble, I would recommend focusing on your hardware/drivers rather than on ET.

i just went and played on a NON-PB server, and had 0 issues,… this can only mean 1 thing…pb v1.189 is faulty !!!

(Sauron|EFG) #6

Certain chipset drivers causes problems with PB (or the other way round), so like chr0nicles says you should get the newest ones. I know this was a problem with nForce4 mobos a while back, but is fixed in the newer drivers.

Posting your system specs when asking for tech support is also a good idea by the way…

mercury is partially right there is currently a problem with the latest version of PB theres quite a few posts on various boards with similar issues, in most cases its either this Blocked os error or Computer freezes…

I know on my system I had no problems until this latest patch was released since then my computer keep freezing when i play et or i get the blocked os error which i never had before till 3-5 days ago.

just send a support ticket to evenbalance they will get their stuff straightend out or point you in the right direction (hopefully)

Yep, to backtrack a little I just heard of someone having the same kind of problem today. So I spoke knowing too little. It’s probably a PB thing.

My system specs

Abit NF7 mobo (nForce 2)
256Mb XMS 3200 ram
128Mb GeForce4 Mx4000 graphics
onboard lan
onboard sound
Western Digital Hdd 80Gb

I also put in a support ticket, with the most receptive response being, are you using a firewall?
