My brother had the same problem a while back and it turned out to be a hardware problem. A second hard disk in his machine had become corrupted and although he reformatted and it appeared to be ok it caused “freezes” on his PC every 5-10 minutes. My advice would be to try and unplug all but essential hardware (e.g take power out of 2nd drives, CD …) and give it a go. Good luck !

I had same problem for a couple of months then NTL (bunch of w******s) put a new router up in my area.Problem solved.
