Mac incompatibility?

(yomoyomo) #1

I tried playing a Lan game with my macintosh and my PC, but my Mac can’t connect to the PC saying that the versions are incompatible. They both are version 2.60 though, so what is the problem? I also find I cannot connect to any servers online, even if I manually type their IP addresses. I look at the IP from the PC, and try to connect using my mac, and I just sit, waiting for the connection as it counts up.

I have played PC -> Mac and Mac->PC

What is the exact error message ?

ahh, its okay, I figured out the problem. My PC was running 2.55 while my mac was running 2.60. I thought I had downloaded the full 2.60 version for PC also. I guess I didn’t. But what about the problem of not being able to connect to servers? is that because my 2.60 version can’t connect with older versions of the server software?

There should be an error message if you try to connect to a server running a wrong version.

The error just says that either you or the server is running an outdated version.

There is no install file of 2.60 full version of ET for windows that I know…

if both the mac and the pc are connecting through a router, you’ll need to set the net port to 27961 on one of them

I see, thanks for the advice
