Hmm… odd. You know what I mean.
LulzSec set sights on Brink?
This just in:
They have not included the Brink users.
Please find enclosed everything we took, excluding one thing -
200,000+ Brink users. We actually like this company and would
like for them to speed up the production of Skyrim, so we’ll
give them one less thing to worry about.
That’s from the text file included with the torrent.
EDIT: I can now confirm there are no user details stored in the release.
EDIT: Cancel that, there’s no passwords but a list of email addresses.
EDIT: Even mine is in there. Damn and blast
I dunno, PM me your email address and I’ll check if its in the release?

Well There MIGHT be something in there that lets you access everything, even if the user database was not included… if you know what i mean. I hope there isn’t.
Steamworks API is there for a reason. I doubt very much that one company would grant access to it’s userbase and passwords to another.
That is true.
There are a lot of other logs inside.
One log contains the admin and user pass for what appears to be some form of Bethesda CMS.
Anybody who registered specifically for the Bethesda Blog (i.e. to post comments) have their email addresses leaked too.
The Brink user email addresses were from the “Sign up for newsletter”.

Lol i swear it’s login info to their databases for different admin users. I effin knew it, that’s just great news. Might aswell go and change my password to 100 sites now. Thanks!

Interesting. Just tried to post twice about this and both have failed to materialise.
The email and user id’s for all staff on the Bethesda blog have their passwords securely hashed.
But if there is login info to their mysql databases that these crappy forums use for example, then were screwed
*Edit, i just hope that our passwords are atleast md5 protected in the databases.

There’s a lot of email addresses. I’m surprised they didn’t suck up any publisher to developer emails.
Did they only do this because Skyrim was taking so long too release.
Thats just impatient.
What the hell do we do now.
yayz , my email adress isnt there
but seriously tho, they stole crap loada stuff.
its twitchy bum time for SD and Beth. sucks hard tbh.
Oh there’s plenty of @zenimax.com emails if that’s what you mean.
There’s also the user and pass to several MySQL databases. I don’t know what to do with them but someone else might. I suggest they find out what was taken and change their stuff accordingly.

I’m talking about actual individual sent and received emails and their text contents. I wonder if they learned anything that would be of interest to the rest of us.
Here is an interesting little tidbit from Yahoo News looks like LulzSec has been busy:
Senate set to investigate hacking claim
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Senate’s Sergeant at Arms’ Office plans to investigate a claimed hacking into the chamber’s computer system, a senior Senate aide said on Monday.
The aide said Senate leadership has confidence in the Sergeant at Arms office, which oversees Senate security, and that it plans to issue a statement later on Monday.
A loosely aligned group of hackers called Lulz Security said they broke into the Senate’s computer network on Monday.

I can appreciate the lulzy-ness I guess seeing as I have a slight grin on my face, but still can’t help but be disappointed with Bethesda’s poor security. I’ve been signed up to their forum (and probably newsletter) since before Fallout 3 came out, and I signed up to the Brink Stats site as soon as it went live, so there’s no doubt that LulzSec have my details.
Gonna have to change a whole bunch of passwords now, but seeing as I’ve used the same 3 passwords for EVERYTHING for around 8 years, I guess I’ve done pretty well to go this long without getting hacked in any way.

Well one could connect them with a mysql client like Navicat(PC), Sequel(MAC) or one of the other 10000 optional clients and access the data. I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS THOUGH, since then you would be braking the law.
