I’ve always encounter this problems, when I play in a lower ping server <100, always pop with connection interrupt every 1 or 2 minutes,… :???: but when I play in server ping @ 300 or 500 this problem such rarely or not too frequent happen…

Aaaarg… .this is very irritating…

Connection specs?

Try settings like rate, cl_maxpackets and snaps.

rate 5000 = 56k modem.
rate 7000 = ISDN.
rate 10000 = Cable/ADSL/Dual ISDN
rate 15000 = > 256kb Cable/ADSL
rate 25000 = LAN/T1 etc.

Normally 25000 is fine for cable connections etc too but most servers have rate limits of 10000 - 15000 normally.

snaps should NOT be 20 tbh. It will work but wont be smooth to play imo… try 30 or 40 and see how the ping goes…

like with cl_maxpackets. This will be set at 30 default but id advise anywhere between 60-100. Some says its best to have a value set for com_maxfps and make your maxpackets the same value so long as it aint > 100.

If you dont know how to change these then you need to press ( ` ) (or console key) and type in the command. eg, to change rate, /rate [PRESS ENTER] and it will tell you the default and currently set value and to change you simply put /rate <your value> eg, 15000. You can also use the TAB key to finish of commands eg, cg_d and pressing tab will list ALL commands starting with cg_d eg, cg_drawgun, cg_draw2d etc.

Yes, its the key before 1. Or maybe the tilda above hash. # / ~. Depends on where you are…

When this is down you simply type: [ul][]/rate 15000 [PRESS ENTER] []/cl_maxpackets 60 OR 100 [*]/snaps 30 OR 40[/ul]

pgh, i think its better to know what its set too at this moment, cause if its allready lower it only would have a negative effect. But thats just my opinion

SIGH.

The first post quite clearly shows me asking for his connection specs and tells him to check the default values as well as those currently set.
