Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I have many questions about Enemy Territory on different operation systems. I hope you can answer some of them.
1 .Is there any clue why is low my FPS and how can I fix it?
I just upgraded my computer, I have 2x more powerful CPU than before and 6x more powerful video card. It is not a big gaming machine: Intel Xeon Quad Core E5430 and Geforce GTX 750 Ti, but it should have constant 125 FPS and it does not. I remember having 125 FPS with the old config, but I started playing again after 5 years. I already tried out r_primitives 2 and turned off vsync. Those settings helped, but I still have sometimes 40-60 FPS especialy when there are many ppl on the map or somebody is shooting on me. With empty map it is constant 125 FPS. I have no network lag. I am playing on 2.60b etpro servers, currently on FP demolition and Hirntot with about 20-30 ppl on the map.
2. Why I have this strange display lag on FP demolition?
On FP demolition I have some kind of lag, I am not sure whether it is related to the previously mentioned FPS problem. I die too early after the monitor displays people and my nades blow up a lot later than they should. It is like I had hundreds of msecs display lag. Sometimes this lag pulls back by a corner and I get hit several times, sometimes I already jumped away from a place, but a nade or a panzer kills me. Sometimes I got hit by panzer or nade on a place where I am not arrived yet. At least on the monitor. I was a top player in 2005-2010, so I can tell this kind of stuff. This is really weird and it is server dependent at least on FP demolition it is really strong. Maybe it is on other servers in a weaker form I don’t know.
3. Do you have any idea how to run ET on multiple cores in Linux or Windows?
Is this even possible? I saw some multi core stuff on Windows but it never worked to me. It would be important to have this on Linux since I will change to Linux soon. I already tried out Ubuntu and Fedora and both are acceptable operation systems to me.
4. How can I fix mouse acceleration on Win7 and Linux Fedora?
I managed only on Ubuntu with xinput by setting the accelprofile to -1, but on Fedora there is a new libinput library which does not support this command. On Windows 7 I tried out at lest 5 accelfix registry hack in 2010 and 2013, but none of them worked. On XP I managed to turn off acceleration and had constant 50%+ acc. Since I use Win7 I have only 40% acc, which is a deal breaker. Partially that’s why I haven’t played for so many years. I did not manage to turn mouseaccel off on Fedora 23 as well. I can set the sens to low and shoot accurate for long distances and I can set the sens to high and shoot accurately for short distances, but I cannot do both as I used to back in 2009 before I changed from XP to Win7. So I have acceleration on Fedora as well. I tried out this with at least 3 mices (Razer Lachesis, Logitech G400, G602, maybe even more, I am not sure).
5. Is there a keyboard fix for Linux?
I have only English keyboard layout. It does not react on weapon switch when I press shift + w + a, thus I cannot change weapon while moving and I frequently die because of that. The 0 key with weaponbank 10 does not work for console like in Windows. I had to bind toggleconsole to the 0 key. It does not close the console, I have to use esc for that. This is really strange.
6. Is there a mouse fix for Linux?
My mouse behaves strangely on Linux, by sniper weapalt switches back to the non sniper mode and +zoom sometimes releases the binoculars. I tried this with G400 and G602, both have some kind of problem. In Firefox they don’t always react to the secondary button. I am not sure whether this is related to the in game problem.
I’ll try out this camera and replay comparison, maybe it shows something to me. Can you recommend a software it is easier to compare the 2 movies with?
