Looking forward to the Spawn Camper solution...

(SinDonor) #1

As someone who dies frequently in this game, nothing pisses me off more than a clown ****ing **** bag **** nut **** who ****ing spawncamps me.

I’m just trying to PTFO. There’s a good chance I won’t kill you out there on the battlefield as I suck at shooting and I’d rather just wrench the EV or something. No need to sit in my spawn and kill me as I appear, while you then lay mines around our spawn area too for good measure.

/rant over.

I’m going to get some lunch. With all this whine, I’ll have some cheese.

This has come up before, the questions is what would you like to see instead? Out of bounds? Turrets at spawn?

(SinDonor) #3

I think I asked for either turrets, or just and “auto-kill” zone that warns players they are getting near a spawn area and to turn around. Otherwise, if they keep going “ZAP!” they die. Repeat offenders get +10 secs added to their respawn time or something.

Anti said they’re working on a solution. I’m looking forward to it.

I’m also looking forward to this grilled cheese sandwich. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlTCkNkfmRY

I think there needs to be some means to break a spawn camp but not prevent the odd attack on spawn. Again this indicates a team imbalance or in the case of the last game a team who has lost interest in fighting over the objective.

I still like the Mr Burns, “Release the hounds” solution. To much spawn camping and the spawn starts throwing out dogs to hunt down the opposing team, at that time anywhere but around the objectives are fair game to be attacked by the dogs. This should push back the campers or distract them enough for the other team to break through a hold.

Alternatively if a team starts to spawn camp the game just swaps them to the other team.

And I’ll mention my favourite of just boosting the team being camped.

Ultimately though, this IMO, comes down to the game being broken because people are choosing to play it that way rather than as intended.

Turret kills are more annoying than spawn camping. /cough

(stealth6) #6

lol, like this idea.

(iwound) #7

great. love to see peeps scrambling to get over a fence with their arse being chewed off.

You could even have the dogs release in an expanding radius until they’re set loose totally.

BTW - Credit for the dogs idea goes to rookie1.

This could backfire if 1 or 2 guys decide to grief their own team by spawn camping. Why should 6 out of 8 players pay for the misdeeds of 1 or 2 morons.

The dogs should just go after the spawn campers. Once activated, any time those guilty ones get near, the dogs are released. Might be too much to implement though. Turrets or auto-death spawn camper deterrents should be easier to implement.

lol rookie1, yeah that is my favorite one. I remember trying to log into d3 the first night, what a mess.

True. It could still work though and would be a nice unique way to address the issue. We need unique, as long as it works of course.

Problem with turrets and such is the effective radius. A spawn camp will just happen outside of the spawn, sure it gives time for people to group up a bit more before walking into a death trap together. That’s why I kind of like the dogs, they’d be mobile and so less predictable. Hell they need not even kill, just incapacitate while they’re biting a player.

(LaVaGoD) #14

I would suggest a mobile base of operation. It would make sense for the times your spawn moves based on where the objective is. With the MBO you could do a ton of different things to prevent spawn camping. You might even be able to purchase extra things for this MBO.

(rookie1) #15

I Dont understand quiet well …it would be a mobile vehicule ?

(LaVaGoD) #16

It couple be a couple things. It could be a vehicle or a tent or anything along the times of a temp base of operation.

The turrets or drones or dogs or whatever the solution is just needs to provide each team with some cover to allow them to exit their spawn without the opposing team being able to have an open sight line to the spawn area or be able to sit in the actual spawn area. If the exit is only a single path out, well then camping will still happen near that path but at least the camped team can regroup and make a push out together instead of just spawning into the campy madness.

Idk if this (or something similar)ever been done (dogs anticamperspaws) would be curious to read what critics would think of this …Me I would be  to see that in a game

(Valdez) #19

I came up with the perfect solution to spawn camping. It is called do not let yourself get spawn camped. In all honesty though the problem is the current skill gap. when the official release for this game happens, I would imagine everyone will be matched up based on skill level. At least I hope they will include some type of skill based matchmaking system.

(SockDog) #20

That’s placing a big burden on matchmaking not only working but also that it doesn’t impact a player’s freedom. Basically I could see matchmaking being pass 1 of several mechanics to address skill imbalances but it shouldn’t be the only one.
