Looking for servers with strong team play....

Heya…
I am wondering if someone might suggest a couple of servers that play with strong teamplay and few n00bs. I’ve been playing mostly on Cains Lair, and the teamwork there is only so so.

FF is off, no spawn killing/camping, and watch the language. Refs/admins are on often and many clan members also.

Yeah…heavy weapons are limited so there’s no panzer or art spamming.

FF off doesn’t mean there’s a lower quality of play, that’s a strange sterotype that has cropped up.

Tbh, I can’t imagine anything worse than having FF off. It just seems a little absurd. Seems like it could be taken advantage of far too easily, for instance in claiming a spawn by placing artillery next to it, and having an ally just run in unhindered and claim it.

On pubbies, you may be lucky to find a few players here and there that’ll be willing to bandy together/avoid Rambo stylee raids, and generally work as a team, but that’s probably in the minority.

I run the [UVA] Servers, and we try very hard to tweak the settings for optimal teamplay. We have both a 6-map and 3-map server, as well as a custom server (though that hasn’t picked up much as of yet).

All of the servers are Limited Lives (18/player), Friendly Fire On, and HW-Restricted. We have weekly player stats and forums available on our web site ( http://www.methkettle.net ). Feel free to drop by any time!

If our servers are full/empty, I’d also reccomend the ND80 servers. Certainly as good as ours, setup wise. I haven’t played on there in a while, but they have some quality players there.

The Splash Damage server in the UK has some good players. Unfortunately it’ll be mostly empty before 8 pm, but after that the real sexy players will show up :slight_smile:

Yah, the SD server is kinda spacious before the Euro-Evenings. I shall attempt to lurk there more often, and suck less when I do.

For whatever reason, I haven’t had time to play anything in the last few weeks–but when I do, the SD server is a great place to kick it. There’s a decent crowd of regulars that know how to play the game, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Shoot_me, I’m a regular on Cains Lair server and remember seeing your nick. I play as WT{CLR}. I have about 7 servers bookmarked and haven’t found one yet as organized as the Lair. Some I won’t even mention since they tend to be full but nevertheless, NOTHING is as frustrating as an entire team standing on the bridge on Goldrush firing away … its does the team no good to sit and snipe from a bridge thats 100 yards from a team objective. The Lair has only so many slots, and we attract a fair amount of ‘unseasoned’ players, but if you find a number of aS clan guys on your team, or HP guys, you will be better off than the other team.

HP and aS guys have made the game a lot more fun for me, and do a helluva great job acting like a teammate rather than just another filled slot on the server roster. If you see me ingame, I WILL back you up.

when ever i play on a 6 map capmaign and we start with same people in the begging and play throughout the campaign and we communicate alot, i often find a server wher theres no team communication its lame, but when we play through the campaign and talk about our strageties its exciting, especially when youve come to depend on a med you know who will revive you or an engie who knows what to blow up … but all this only happens once in a while in public servers :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :banana:

If you want good teamplay, go to the Grotto or New Maps, hosted by ND80. 26 players, limited lives, heavy weapons restriction.

I could suggest the 2 servers in my sig, but you’ll get your fair share of bad players there as well sometimes.

As a general rule I’d say, if you truly want team orientated servers, look for those running ETPro and / or running in Stopwatch mode. ETPro because it’s the de-facto mod for competition play and, as it’s a 1mb client download, servers running it are usually run by Clans for Clan players (who by their very nature are more team orientated). And Stopwatch cos it weeds out the XP-whores.

Every server has it’s good games and bad games. Even the one in my .sig :banana:
