Long-time Beth forum member reviews the game

(Shadowcat) #1

Zombiespy, a forum friend of mine got a copy of the game and has given his opinion, as well as an attempt at trying to explain some of the bad reviews for the game.

He’s currently answering questions about the game in-between games/

hhmmm… has he really played the game? there is no offline co-op, and his brother didn’t have a copy…

(BiigDaddyDellta) #3

(he even offered to reimburse me for his copy of the game).

He apparently got his brother a copy.

This is around what I’m expecting. Sounds amazing. Tuesday, pls come quickly.

I wonder how much it’ll be marked down by critics for the poor AI, I don’t care as this is a multiplayer intended game but you know what those reviewers are like.

(Shadowcat) #6

Honestly, my only curiosity when it comes to reviews is if Yahtzee will cover it. If the AI is really as questionable as people say then i think that he will probably hate it. Hes never been a big fan of the claim that “It’s fun in multiplayer”. He usually says something along the lines of “Any game is fun if you’re playing it with friends.” …I seem to have gone off on a tangent

(kratier) #7

omg you haters need to just stop it, jesus christ

(Insanity) #8

Ermm, who are you talking to?

(Shadowcat) #9

I assume anyone who says “Its going to get a low critic score because _________”

I wouldn’t consider Nov-2010 a long time forum member.

Just sayin.

Over here? you’re right, 6 months isn’t much.

Over there? not many veterans. Hes among the more knowledgeable at the Beth forums.

(AKASneaky) #12

Not sure why everyone is talking about AI when the game is multiplayer. The only thing you should do in singleplayer is set your controls, adjust your sensitivity…etc… get a feel for it and jump into multiplayer because that’s what the game is.

Even with the bethsoft forum reset, I have no clue who he is and I’ve posted there since ES3.

(iezza) #14

Im from '09 at beth forums. im not a Noob. and '10 isnt early, especialy late '10

(Shadowcat) #15

Well, the intent was to just differentiate him from the people who come on the forums and make an account to talk about the game they got early. Wasn’t really meant to be a prestige thing. Heck, I haven’t even been around all that long myself.

Point is, its someone who has been following the game.

(Kurushi) #16

Sounds good and trustworthy - which I shouldn’t have to add. Some people need telling unfortunately

The game sounds as deep as expected with some skill by the sounds of it\o/

How long have YOU been here?

(Mephster) #18

Is there a reason why we even have single player option ? Why do people feel the need they need to solo in a team-based objective shooter.

(SockDog) #19

Because nearly every interview has mentioned blurring the lines between single player and multiplayer. It’s kind of built up an expectation that there is a single player game in there and when you hear single player + FPS you think CoD scripted bing bam boom type stuff.

The reality is Brink lets you take a multiplayer game and play it single player with the aid of bots. But then that doesn’t sound exciting and new. Love SD but they have a terrible habit (I’ll call it Molyneux Syndrome) of building up hype around very small features. They make excellent games and they should let them speak for themselves.
:stroggtapir:

I’m thinking there is going to be a lot of people who are unaware that there is not really a deep single play component and they maybe disappointed - I always thought single player should be as important as multiplayer - someone said on a podcast developers become so lazy developing AI because their games are so dependent on multiplayer that they don’t work on advancing smarter enemies which i think is a horrible thing because to be honest not EVERYONE is going to like multiplayer …
