Logitech Mouse MX510 suitable for Enemy Territory?

(ETKing) #1

I need to buy a new mouse because the wheel of my MS Explorer 3.0 mouse becomes more and more damaged because I pressed the wheel button too often.

So I think about buying Logitech MX510.

A year ago I bought Logitech MX500 (or so). I couldn’t configure most buttons of the mouse for playing with Enemy Territory. Fortunately I could return the mouse and get my money back.

So this time I am very careful. Does anyone have a MX510 and can you tell me if you recommend this mouse for Enemy Territory? Can you configure all mouse buttons in the game Enemy Territory?

They will prolly use the same drivers…

My mx700 works fine… and can configure mouse1 -> mouse5… :moo:

yes they all work fine, aslong as you DONT install the drivers n stuff that comes on the cd

I did install the drivers btw :stuck_out_tongue:

Just also have run the… “utility for gamers”

I’ve Just managed to finally get my hands on a much coveted MX300…I take it I shouldn’t install the drivers that come with it???

i got a 510, installed the drivers i think and could convert all 8 buttons in use wid ET, mouse 1-5 work in eT then the rest have to be done in windows

i installed the mouseware drivers …and the never versions works fine… i would recommned to install them-…it was in older days…i couldnt bind mouse 3 and mousewheel…it all works for me now… with mousedrivers.

seems like they’ve got the drivers sorted now then, but I still haven’t installed them as it works fine without them

I personally would not install drivers for keyboards or mice (no need) and if it doesnt work without them, then straight to bin!

My MX700 works fine without drivers.

it WORKS fine without drivers…but the MX510 uses new technology…higher DPI and stuff…and ive read somewhere that u wont be able to fully use the features of your mx510 mouse…if u dont install the dirvers…sorry i dont have any link…or documentation for that. But i can say im using a mx300 mouse and with latest mousewaredrivers…and it works for me. u just have to set it up right in the mouse setup

(squadjot) #12

and about only being able to bind mouse1-5 in ET…i think that has nothing to do with drivers…but simply is about ET not reckocnizing the last 3 mouse buttons 6-7-8…anyways… in Windows, as u pointed out…, u can manually set all the mousekey to whatever keyboard-key u want… then u just bind your ETstuff to that key.

I recommend installing the drivers to get the full capability out of the mouse then use a program like logigamer http://www.geocities.com/gpkgpk13/ . I have done this and I can configure all of the buttons. An added bonus is being able to set up profiles for other apps ie i have one so when i listen to music i control it with mouse 4 and 5.
