Login Servers down?
anyone who able successfuly login into ETQW, should emit exstatic “Horay !!” right in THIS topic, i presume.
otherwise he should wait bit long to get someone play with.
Aren’t the master servers for Quake 1, 2, and 3 all still running? These games all came out in the 90s! Granted you need GameSpy 3D or another server browser for Quake 1/2, but the master servers are still up.
So I would hope the Quake Wars master server could stay up for years to come…
Granted, Splash Damage, I understand it’s Activision’s fault, not yours. Love Wolf ET & QW; looking forward to Brink!
Developers don’t need the permission of Publishers to release patches, simply because it doesn’t harm the Publishers profits. However given that Activision runs the servers, they would have to put the patch on there servers so that the end users (us) could get the patch through the game.
The reason developers don’t develop patches for games after a certain time period has passed is because the Publisher hasn’t given them any more money for patches. Developers can’t unfortunatly pay there staff with peanuts, so the Publisher has to give the Developers money to develop patches.
ok, WHEN is the masterserver getting back online then??? It’s been hours already :<
SD may or may not need permission from activision for a patch, but SD definately needs bread on their table and activision isn’t going to help them with that for making a patch. With all the testing and distribution (in which activision would have to play a role too which I doubt they’re willing to do because we all know they don’t give a **** about ETQW.) that would all have to come from SD’s own pocket (again).
There’s not an awful lot left to patch anyway, any bugs still prevalent we’ve learned to live with.

how about community-made patches ?
with or without partially[in most problemetic]opened sources or few pointeing for guys trying that.
So… how about we compile a list of servers we can play on without logging in? I know they’d probably be prone to some abuse, but at least could act as life-savers in case of similar events…
with 3rd-party software, serving as server browser and “connect xxxx” exec command, made by it during ETQW launch, but its hardly very comfortable.
until someone reverse-engieer crypted services protocol, like netcoders do in past. but for same reasons, why they retaliated, i hope thats not happen.
until services more or less working 99.99% time.
Login Server down again 23/2/2011 Error message this time Cancelled. Does this mean it now down and out?
i have check the time (date/hour) of the posts from beginning and it took them about 24h the last time.
yep, down again. These people playing now should stay on-line forever -.-
Once in a while I actually get to play during the day… figures.
BTW, it’s back up (for now). Just in time for me to leave.
