Little help needed with my tweak

(Eld0Rad0) #1

hello,

My problem is that I got huge FPS drops on some of the original maps (expecially radar & railgun). Overal I got a 20-65 FPS (it’s not steady at all like in RTCW) but at some places at radar & railgun I got 20 FPS and that’s almost not playable.
I don’t play with the default cfg but I I’ve tweaked it (I’ve been playin’ RTCW for 2 years and I adapted my RTCW tweak a little bit for use in ET). I’ve set everythin’ to the lowest, but I can’t seem to change some settings with cvars. I am talking about:

[ul]
[li]the sound quality
[/li][li]geometric detail
[/li][li]texture detail
[/li][/ul]

I’ve searched in the ETconfig.cfg and dumped “cvarlist” in a txt-file but I can’t seem to find any of these settings, I want to add these settings to my tweak so I can easily change between my different cfg’s. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanx in advance,

Also if ya can give me more advice on how to gain even more FPS then please go ahead. I am aiming at a steady 75 FPS like in RTCW

Oh and if you’re wondering which system I have, I got a:

1.4 Ghz AMD
640 MD DDR RAM
Geforce 3, 64 MB DDR

I never had problems with FPS drops in MP games, but 20 FPS :disgust:

20 FPS isnt that bad but its not good either, its around my mark at points in those maps,my brother plays with 5 fps in places on his laptop so I dont complain

lolz, it’s quite important, I don’t always play on pubs, I mostly play clanwars and it’s a big disadvantage when your opponents have ±75 FPS and you are lagging like shit with your 20 FPS, so please give me some good advice will ya

Check out these settings in your .cfg files too:

seta rate “15000” // download data rate
seta cg_wolfparticles 1 // turn off snow and rain
seta com_hunkMegs “192” // amount of ram for game
seta com_soundMegs “32” // amount of ram for sound
seta com_zoneMegs “32” // amount of ram for environment

dont bother changing soundmegs and zonemegs to more than 32

From my config, the cvars that are going to give you the most FPS gain:-

seta cg_atmosphericeffects "0"
seta cg_bloodtime "0"
seta cg_bloodflash "0.0"
seta cg_brasstime "0"
seta cg_coronafardist "0"
seta cg_gibs "0"
seta cg_marks "0"
seta cg_marktime "0"
seta cg_shadows "0"
seta cg_showblood "0"
seta cg_wolfparticles "0"
seta com_blood "0"
seta r_colorbits "16"
seta r_depthbits "24"
seta r_detailtextures "0"
seta r_dynamiclight "0"
seta r_ext_compressed_textures "1"
seta r_fastsky "1"
seta r_finish "0"

seta r_lodbias "2"
seta r_picmip "3"
seta r_subdivisions "999"
seta r_texturebits "16"

seta s_doppler "0"
seta s_mixahead "0.14"
seta s_mixPreStep "0.05"

seta r_picmip “3” // texture detail
seta cg_wolfparticles “0” // turn off explosions
