List of servers and IP's

(Jahuu) #1

Hello I’d like to test my network playing ET and I can’t access any game servers as I don’t know their IP’s please inform a few of them to me.

By the way should I write an IP (let’s say xxx.yyy.zzz.www:qqq)

like xxx.yyy.zzz.www or xxx.yyy.zzz.www:qqq

So how to write an adress with a colon and the rest of the numbers or with out them?

Huh ?

Did I understood you right, your in-game browers isn’t displaying any game servers ? That’s probably a firewall problem, your Firewall is blocking ETs internet traffic that’s why you see no servers.

As an atlernative to the ET game browser you could use All Seeing Eye, QTracker or Gamespy.

The bit after the colon is the port number. You don’t always need it because it will assume a default port number (27960 probably), but if the server you want to connect to uses a different port then you need to specify it using <ip-address>:<port>

To senator:
Yeah but if I play the client (the game) asks for something and the returning is just an answering package. (this is what I have been told)

To Kendle:
So i need to put the :xxxx
Thank you.

So any IP’s anyone?

127.0.0.1:27960

I’ve probably still not understood your problem but if you start ET you click on ‘Play Online’ in the main screen, than a new window pops up where after a short while several hundret servers will apper. All you than need to do is to select one an click on ‘Join Server’, no need to insert the IP anywhere. If no servers appear --> check your Firewall
If you want to join a specific server who’s not in the public list just click ‘Play Online/Connect to IP’ and than you have to enter the IP but that’s usually not necessary.

lol heres a proper ip 212.137.70.5:25555… lets hope its not crashed when you try to access it… lets have lesss chat and more patch making… we would really like one within the next day or so. as i and other administrators are getting sick of rebooting the server 6 times a day.

Funny, but please don’t try to confuse a newbie :moo:

@Jahuu, the 127.0.0.1 is basically you computer so if you enter this IP ET would try to find a gameserver running on your computer.

Thanks guys.

Just one more question: How long do you normally have to wait??

I mean the timer.

How much 10, 60, 100???

If his in game browser is not working then he has a problem somewhere else, like a firewall/router. Typing in an IP isn’t going to help any. Sounds to me like he needs to find a friend that is computer literate to physically go over and help him out. Not being mean, but some folks are that way, like my in-laws. No point in trying to explain something to them over the phone. :banghead:

DL this, see if it show’s ya any games? Its a Fast simple free ET server /player searcher called Pathfinder. It doesnt show all the server’s, but like 80%. and allows *search’s for friends.

I think hes running linux :eek3: :banghead:

What firewall do you use? Is it a software based firewall like ZoneAlarm? Is it something like a linksys router / firewall? Another machine like a linux based firewall? I think software based firewalls like ZoneAlarm block all traffic by default (in and out) until you give explicit access rights for a program / port. I really am not sure, though, as I’ve never used a software based firewall.

So you are succesfully trying to connect to a server? If the message is ‘awaiting gamestate’ it shouldn’t go beyond 5, if the message is ‘server full’ and the counter starts it depends on when somebody is leaving the server to make room for you. If you dont absolutely want to play on that particular server its usually best to hit ESC and try another server.

Thanks for replies.

I run a linux version of ET.

When I connect to the server 212.137.70.5:25555 the console prints

Resolving etmaster.idsoftware.com
etmaster.idsoftware.com resolved to 192.246.40.60:27951
212.137.70.5:25555 resolved to 212.137.70.5:25555

… and then nothing.

I think I should consult my network system operator (AKA father).

But I read somewhere that I don’t have to open any ports because the game client recieves only answering packages from the server. And they are let through automatically.
