Hello Forum,

is it definitly fix that Quake Wars will be run native under linux and with what distance to the windows version will it release. I am very pleased if get an offical statement. I will nock out windows from my computer.

Hello Poster,

While it is almost certain that at release there will be Linux Server version, AFAIK nothing is official about a Linux Client (which is what I’m guessing you’re asking about)… and since the actual released DATE is to remain a mystery for us mere mortals, I’m sure the release DATE of the Linux client is knowledge that is even more unattainable. Best of luck!

Would also be interested if a linux client is planned.
Because I already knocked of Windows.

Use the search, Luke…

… (countless threads skipped)

that doesnt answer his question though… it was only told, that there will be a linux version, but not when…
I’m also a linux user and would like to know how long I will have to wait for the linux version.

For Quake 4 or Doom 3, the Linux client went public only days after the official release. So we could take a plausible guess that the ET:QW Linux client will go online within the week after the official release.

The only drawback is that ordering in advance is not so usefull seeing how you won’t be able to play it in Linux untill the shops sell the games regularly. (Aka “dibs on server X”)

Should TTimo or whomever employee of id decide that the Linux version could be distributed with the game itself, the game would sure attract some attention of the Linux crowd.

Hello Forum,

i found an interview with Timothee “TTimo” Besset from id-Software, who (ports) the other clients.

Source: http://www.linuxgames.com/?dataloc=articles/ttimo2006/

He sounds really sure about the linux client.

(taken) #8

hello General.Jung, you’re a e-retard.

(General.Jung) #9

Hello taken,

but eventually not for every one. I did not know about this interview since today.

(figvam) #10

So it looks like Mr. General didn’t even read the replies. If he did, he’d know about the interview - it was linked from one of the threads I provided.
Also, since he obviously prefers to be spoonfed instead of researching himself, here’s another link from the same thread:
http://figvam.blogspot.com/2007/01/etqw-linux-client-will-be-fairly-prompt.html
(Sorry malarky - II!)
Now, what are the chances of him clicking this link?

Also, it was linux client for Quake4 which went public soon after the game release, Doom3 linux client was delayed several months…

(General.Jung) #11

Hello figvam,

100% - i done it. OK. Your are right, i had have to read the links more care. Thanks for your replies.

I guess ET:QW won’t make my dream come true - I buy the game, insert CD (or DVD?) in ROM and I see a linux native installation files… :expressionless:

Btw, call me e-retard or whatever, but i’ve kinda missed the information - will ET:QW be on CD’s or DVD? If DVD, then I’ll have to buy that damn DVD-ROM
