linux server client

(gizZzor) #21

Guys u dont rly have to wait for them … just go ahead and install wine on your machines

(SebaSOFT) #22

does that work headless?

(SpawnTDK) #23

wine is a half-assed solution for server applications and feels like fighting the satan with the devil.
btw. normaly servers are running without any x environment :penguin:

hail to the korn shell

+one

(and some additional characters)

(farnsworth) #25

bump

because this needs to be on page one all the time

(raideen) #26

push… still waiting and paying for a linux rootserver we can’t use …

(SpawnTDK) #27

bump up the volume

(scub) #28

its taking time, they’re implementing all the needed bugs.

(McAfee) #29

Interested on knowing this too

(Ino) #30

It works on wine, at least the guy who manages our root server got it to work pretty well. Occasionally there’s a little lag, but nothing out of the ordinary.

But he is still waiting for the linux files because he hates having to run the server in wine

(Nail) #31

Can’t use wine on my servers, got 3 sitting idle

(Cyan) #32

Made me laugh so hard! :stroggbanana:

(lordfiSh) #33

Works quite well, try this: http://wiiare.in/8158-howto-dedicated-brink-server-unter-linux-wine/

(donmichelangelo) #34

Yes, but not everyone wants to install Wine, rather more the dependicies for wine (X Server), or even can’t install it on their server coz it’s not a real root server where they have no full access to it.

This How-To is just a “hint” to linux admins and their boxes which are a bit more confident with linux distros. Altough better than nothing…

Anyway, linux binaries (dedicated) are still required!

(TheSgtBilko) #35

Another week and no Linux server files. Interest is fading within the community I play, since we can’t run on our own server. To bad, the game was promising.

(BomBaKlaK) #36

bump it up ! +10

(3|K) #37

+1 ~

(Apewall) #38

Still waiting.

([bP]little) #39

The game is still dying and one reason is the non exiting linux server…

(Mustang) #40

Just took a look at Steam BRINK stats and it reports around 3k-3.5k current PC gamers
Interested to know at what point you would draw the line and crossover to the definition of dying
Contrasting that against Crysis 2 which is nearer 500 it seems like a fairly decent player count to me
