Linux Install - I need Help Please

(xG -Abit-) #1

I keep getting an error stating…

/tmp/selfgz1709/setup.sh: line 278: 1801 Segmentation fault “$setup” “$@” 2>>$NULL
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1

Trying to run the install from RH9.0 with what I thought, glibc-2.3.x update. Additionally the installation is being done from sshd. There’s no gui just a text install, I want to run a server and man o man… this is strange stuff to me.
Please advise links, instructions, anything would be much appreciated.

I don’t have installation problems with Slackware 9.0 so why RH9.0?
Thanks,

No sir,
But thanks for trying =)
I’ve been here http://icculus.org/lgfaq/#install
But I believe that pertains to Locki’s gui-installer for Quake*.* based games.

Hard to say, not familiar troubleshooting issues like this.
Any one else?
Please help…
Thanks,

see this:

if you can get Gtk+ installed, try running through the graphical installer instead of text mode. Otherwise use the setup provided in the faq. Otherwise use --keep option when running setup, can copy the content manually to /usr/local/games

man --keep hosed my machine up like cop in a doughnut shop.
Not only that - I setup a firewall on my server and didn’t apply the fricken rules before I did the attempt to install :bash: :bump: :eek2: :eek3: :frowning:
So, now you can only guess where I am with a request to hardboot the bad boy from the NOC.
Heh, hopefully I’ll get it working today. O_o
Thanks for your help. TT, I’ve been to that link and I must be on the same page as you so… off to work I go. Laterz =)
