Level variety in lobbies

(Proxy) #1

I think this is a issue that needs attention. I just dropped out of a game that i refused to play as, i’m about half way to level 8 and this server i came into had a level 71 in the enemy team something i refuse to play against at my level. As level 71 paired with low lvls like myself is just pretty bad in my opinion. There should be maybe people between level 1 and 10 in my opinion on one server not a lvl 71. That is pretty biased towards the team whom has that player. I’m not hating of any high levels or so but they should not pair low lvl vs such high level.

Quick Join =/= Match making.

(Proxy) #3

And that shouldn’t matter. Beta or not a lvl 71 vs a team of low lvl is just plain out unfair, i know it’s a beta but stuff like this should not happen.

(watsyurdeal) #4

If he didn’t even have a level how would you even know how good he was? His level doesn’t mean that much, he’s just been playing longer. It doesn’t really matter whether it’s fair or not imo, it just means people need to stop expecting everything to be so easy for them on a public server.

Hence the term, public, meaning open to anyone who wants to play.

what @supergonzo meant was that Quick Join doesn’t calculate skill in the way matchmaking does. In fact, it shouldn’t calculate it. It prioritizes region and open slots.

So it will happen. And on another note, you can learn something from people who have played the game for that long. Turn it into a learning moment.

You probably play against level 10-20 cobalt ranked players every couple of games. If they showed rank if casual games you would probably be surprised, But they don’t. And if they simply hid levels in casual you probably wouldn’t notice most of the high level players in game.

I never said i wanted easy but playing longer means he most likely has a higher skill. Your point is basically that what can be considered a pro vs a newbie. I want competition but not from such high levels.

True enough, but it’s a habit to find it annoying from other games like CoD and BF which i used to play. The main FPS i really played before DB (which i love.) was Tf2 where level isn’t really a thing. But yeah, i’ll try and stick around for more then 3 minutes. Though i prefer level 20ish to face and lower.

I agree with you, but there’s no where a high level can really go in this game.
I get shamed for being level 30 and joining one of the few random objective servers available. I can’t really see levels before I join the server.

You can join MAX Level 5 servers, if you are still under level 5. That should help a bit

(frolicsomeCrane) #9

Boo f**king hoo, son - Skyhammer probly.

(Proxy) #10

Boohoo on yourself. Maybe bring some to say other then this and i don’t play Skyhammer as i’m not a fan. I prefer my Proxy Sparks and Fragger

(pumpkinmeerkat) #11

A lot of the high level players had as many hours in the game before the last reset as they have added since so their level, while high, isn’t even an accurate representation. As others have said level doesn’t mean very much and really shouldn’t in the context of quick join.

(N8o) #12

Pretty crappy luck to quick join into a lobby with a world top player (level wise). Also, they have literally no where else to go. The min 10 servers have been more or less dead for a few months.

THIS THIS THIS THIS

Moreover, playing against players with higher skill makes you better. Even more in public if he is alone. He can’t focus only on you and you often have a chance to kill him.

when higher than 20 levels as my self join a server and try to help the team to understand what to do and not go around like sheep in team deathmatch i get shamed, votekicked etc cause i try to play the game…cause i am a no lifer because they play for fun and i play for the 1mill grand prize…its funny that we are accused for playing the game PROPER

and yes the pub experience is tricky at this stage because there aren’t too many players “yet”

so i believe the best thing for you is just leave…you are not gonna learn anything from a player that doesnt miss a headshot and runs like hell in the map…
that’s practise and skill…
maybe you will learn some good positions to defend-attack etc but most of the time you will be powned to death along with your team

so simply…press esc and exit to menu and of to another server…for now…

Great advice, I guess that’s why Natural Selection 2 did so well retaining new players.

And Evolve.

Yeah, i saw no point in staying as i left after maybe 3 deaths and 5 minutes or so. Wasn’t gonna bother, strategic spots are learnt through scouting aswell other players like Underground (I think that was the name for the “water” map.) last point which is what i see quite attacker biased with the door close and the clear view of the C4 which can be planted where you got full vision making it super hard to defuse aswell plant in the middle and “camp” behind the pipes in the middle of the room.

I was in that game and I was on the same team than the level 71. At the end of the stopwatch he had about 20k points and I had 19k. I’m level 20. You didn’t complain about me, so the level issue is just in your head. If you would have slapped a 20 level tag on him and a 70 level tag on me you would have complained about me and not him. Yet the score difference is minute. Just don’t see the level as something that brands a player as a good player or not.

Now I understand that there is an underlying issue. But it isn’t that level 71 join a pub game. It’s that there should be max level 5, max level 10 and min level 10 only servers. There should be a clear either or distinction and not servers where everything is allowed together.

Well, i didn’t check much on other and i’m used to see level 20ish people as they are more common then a level 71.

So because someone is unique they deserve to be excluded? That level 71 player has just as much right than you or me to play, heck because of his loyalty to the game he might even have more right than us. don’t be that guy who starts yelling hacks and cheat, just because of a level. Especially in this game it’s just an indicator of how long you’ve been playing and it ends there.

I never said he wasn’t allowed to play. Just that low levels put against such high levels is kinda unfair.
