I decided to play as a soldier a good bit the other night (normally I go medic) and achieved level 4 heavy weapons.
I was originally led to believe that you could then replace your pistol in weaponbank 2 with an smg. You can in fact replace your pistol with an smg, but alas it doesn’t go in weaponbank 2, it’s also in weaponbank 3. You’re required to select weaponbank 3 again to get your smg or vice versa to go back to your heavy weapon.
This may not seem like a big deal, but however you happen to have your keys set up, after spending the majority of the game using a particular key to select your light weapon and a different one to select your heavy weapon, it can play havoc with you in intense situations. On top of that, for some reason strange reason, the way I have my keys set up, I could not even get it to switch for me without reaching up and pressing the “3” key.
You can’t carry a pistol and an smg and a heavy weapon, you only have a choice of pistol and heavy or smg and heavy, so wouldn’t it make much more sense to leave the light weapon in weaponbank 2 (or at least have an option somewhere in the settings)?
It goes along with the confusing way you choose between the 2 medic needles at level 4 medic. It’s sad, but I’ve found that I’m less effective at level 4 of both of these classes then level 3, just due to the un-intuitive nature of the controls.
If there’s one thing I’d like to see in an upcoming patch, it would be to have the soldier lvl4 smg in weaponbank 2, and the medic lvl4 super needle the alt-weapon function of the regular needle! In the least an option in the settings to change it to this. (maybe there is one, if so, someone please tell me)
