Level 14 after 1 day?? :(

(Senyin) #21

I couldn’t care less, I don’t play to level or for unlocks. I’m glad unlocks are mainly for fun and can be earned quick and early on. Leveled playing field is so much better.

But, maybe they have medals or something for people who like that stuff?
No idea if they do.

(Djean) #22

I think liking fast progression is mostly a matter of taste.
What I don’t really get however, is the purpose of the ranking system if you can level that quickly.
Within a day or two you’ll be playing with the best players there are rendering all those lower ranks quite useless.
For that reason I wonder if they’re not being a bit too generous with the XP.
Would anyone care to share their thoughts on this?

(BJBlaskowitz) #23

Yeah I was turned off that a medic in BF did not even get Defibs right off the bat and came with LMG. Stupid.

(indirect) #24

If you play an FPS for levels, you’re into the wrong genre.

(Norb) #25

Id agree with that, its cool seeing thngs like how many kills youve had in total and stuff like that maybe how BF did the medals for getting knfe kills etc and always seeing the gamertags etc.

But I dont play fps for ranks or levels I play it cause like them and play them for hours and hours and even months with certain games.

(oO Para oo) #26

They could of least had 50 ranks. 20 rank in one day what’s the point of having ranks at all?

(stealth6) #27

Cause that’s what players nowadays seem to need… hey it made you buy the game didn’t it?
:stroggbanana:

(oO Para oo) #28

No I bought it for a longer exciting experience not seen it all, do e it all in 1 day :frowning:

(Norb) #29

have you maxed out all classes then in this 14 hours or just one type if so on a basis of lets say it take you another 6 hours to get to level 20 youve still got 60 hours worth of gameplay to level up your other 3 classes.

giving you 80 levels to rank up thru and unlock things for if your into the unlockin things aspect.

(stealth6) #30

well maybe you can max out a character in 1 day, but I doubt you can instantaneously figure out all possible tactics to win maps, see all the cool spots in a map, figure out the pros and cons of all the weapons.

As already stated the challenge will be in the gameplay not in the grind.

(Tandem) #31

I say the quicker the playing-field is even, the better,
then it’s up to improving battlesense and aim.

The player vs player interaction holds my interest
over playing for perks/unlocks/powerups, which are ok I guess, but not missed when gone.

(PGTipzz) #32

this might make mesound stupid but do you get everything by level 20 or are there still unlockables by that time. because that degree of choice and impact would be nice to see in an FPS.

(PillowTalk) #33

I’ve got exactly 10.1 hours play time according to Steam and I already have a level 20 character.

I had to start a new guy because I couldn’t get into any games with people playing since it matches you with people of the same rank and there’s not many Rank 5 players yet. :frowning:

(Herandar) #34

Yeah, if I can get Level 5 in a couple of hours just doing the challenges, it cannot be considered a slow unlock game… Thankfully the unlockables are NOT the focus of the game.

(oO Para oo) #35

Yes everything unlocked by lvl 20 about 10 hours of gameplay thenyou have see and u locked everything :frowning: :penguin:

(system) #36

And they were lying how?

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #37

Exactly. Richard Ham said the AI is nto stupid, it hold back to let you do the heavy lifting so you feel like a hero. In the last few mins of a game it will kick in and go all out on attacking/ defending.

P.S. Etek it’s nice to see a friendly name in all this Madness thats happening on the Brink forums.

(Bridger) #38
I think this game will ok for around a month, but then what? if it is possible to rank up to lvl 14 in 7 hours and it only goes to 20… seems the excitement of that new weapon or unlock is well gone.

With no pop up achievements like cod (dare I say it) I always enjoy knowing i will unlock something else the more I play, you can unlock everything in 12 hours :frowning: that sucks.

I cant see the game lasting long, and I like Brink (for now)

Thoughts?
Everyone else probably already said it but…

<grandpa voice>Back in my day we played games of skill for the satisfaction of actually getting better at them. Not for some stupid reward or perk that makes us feel like we’re doing better.</grandpa voice>

Seriously, if leveling up is the only reason you play FPS games why not go play an RPG instead? The whole point is that FPS games have a very high skill ceiling due to the hand-eye coordination aspect. You play to win the game, not to level up!

I’m so damned happy I don’t have to grind to unlock everything myself. Going to be glad to get to max level ASAP so I can play the real game.

(Apoc) #39

When you have unlocked everything thats when the game starts dude.

The levels system with unlocks is just to help you learn the game and gradually give you weapons and skills so you can learn them systematically and not be overwhelmed by choice.

This game is prioritises gameplay, apologies if you dislike good gameplay and prefer to sacrifice it for many useless unlocks and symbols next to your name, then really, the game is better off without you. Cya.

Wow go cry some more everyone. Go play another game. Never got why people only played games to unlock things, yes its something to keep you playing a bit longer but for all the wrong reasons, no one wants to play on a team with a guy just trying to get his next unlock. I have played a good 2dozen or so games on PS3 since i bought it and most of them were shooters, the ones i played longer then any others by a wide margin was COD4 and BFBC2 and in both of those games i ranked up quick, topped out and still went on to play for Months and Months and hundreds of hours.
Now i do agree i would liek to see more ingame stat tracking and not just on a website and maybe doing something like BFBC2 for weapons would be nice where you can rank up guns by use (kills or damage dealt) to unlock skins or leaderboards to show who is the best with which weapons. I love having everything from a early level on but really would like to have more incentive to use every type of weapon and i think something thats a non game factor like more skins would be awesome.
