Level 14 after 1 day?? :(

(oO Para oo) #1

I think this game will ok for around a month, but then what? if it is possible to rank up to lvl 14 in 7 hours and it only goes to 20… seems the excitement of that new weapon or unlock is well gone.

With no pop up achievements like cod (dare I say it) I always enjoy knowing i will unlock something else the more I play, you can unlock everything in 12 hours :frowning: that sucks.

I cant see the game lasting long, and I like Brink (for now)

Thoughts?

Some of us play the game for the gameplay instead of the grind, and we are thankful for this.

If you`re in for a dangling carrot…well…
Think about this: in previous SD game we had to unlock our stuff every time a new campaign was started on a server we happened to be. And no one gave a damn, because it was addictive like ****. BC2 dies when you open the last gun, ET works through other means.

(Shojimbo) #4

I unlocked everything in Bad Company 2 very quickly and still played it for hundreds of hours doing the same few maps and the same few game modes.

Because it’s fun.

Besides you can create ten different characters and re-level if unlocking things gets you aroused.

SD seems to be lying, AI is dumb yet they said it was human like, and i remember them saying it takes quite awhile for someone to level up.

Im having second thoughts of getting Brink now…

And i was planning to go get it in a hour or so.

(Whydmer) #6

If I get bored of the game play I will let you know.

(Whydmer) #7

Get the game dude, you will not be disappointed. They will also be able to adjust the bot ability if necessary. Apparently (I have not looked for a link yet) Rahdo was just on Machimina talking about this.

(Got2ball) #8

Agreed,
However one thing that does bother me about Brink is the fact that none of your decisions are permanent or have any consequence. There are 10 character slots you would think they would make body-type,skill selection, and faction permanent to merit actually making another character. There really is no reason to create multiple character when one can change to adapt to anything on a whim. You can change body type, reset skills, switch factions whenever you want. If they would have atleast made body-type selection a permanent attribute then players would be more individualized which is cool and it would merit making multiple characters.

THIS.

Besides, nobody is stopping you from leveling up and skilling a few extra Chars for different purposes. (Like some master operative who doesn’t have any other class skills.)

(peteXnasty) #10

There’s a ton oskills and build types to try as well as infinite respecs, combined with 3 bodytypes and 3 different playstyles.

If you can’t find entertainment in experimentation then well…I dunno

More characters? what for it s a FPS i dont see my own character. and its pointless creating another character I can change to medic, or soldier any time I want. pointless what I am saying is 1 day to unlock EVERYTHING is not great imo.

(Dr.Ricktofen) #12

Yes i watched this and turns out the ai isnt so dumb after all.

I should stop doubting SD and Brink.

Anyways i will see you all online when psn come back and my ps3’s YLOD is fixed.

This!
I mean… i like leveling and i like unlocking things.
But, for example, i played ~1200h CoD4. I think around 800 of these were played in Promod. I played it because it was fun! And because i loved to play with my team
And I think it’ll be the same in Brink. If everyone of my clan likes it (and i hope & think so) I think we’ll start playing clanwars after we played it public for a while. I think it’ll be popular in the eSports scene

(Zzxyz.Rd) #14

No it isn’t pointless seeing as you can’t have all the classes fully specced as one character, you will want to have atleast 2 imo. Anyways, I don’t care for unlocking stuff, unlocked pretty much all the BFBC2 things in a day aswell, still played that game for up until now for example.

It’s all about the gameplay and having fun, solo aswell as with friends.

(sk1nk) #15

I still play quake 3 after a decade and I’m still level 0

If you need an arbitrary number to keep you playing this probably isn’t your game.

The stupid unlocks that started with CoD including the mines bigger than yours “Prestige” badges are what ruined that game. The constant playing for xp ruined most if not all of the objective games modes as folk only ever went for the kills.

At least this way new guys don’t have to spend days trying to get the better gear and stand a chance online.

Well new guys will not be playing with pros, well, won’t be playing with much higher levels i should say.

(BJBlaskowitz) #18

For real. Imagine actually being able to USE the guns rather than waiting weeks to unlock something.

I kinda with the devs would all drop the XP thing.

(ThePilgrim101) #19

This. + 1

I’m happy for fast progressions and great gameplay.

I’m happy the game is easy to level up in. It’s fun to level and get unlocks, but that shouldn’t be the whole game. The game should have an even and balanced playing field, getting to max level and rank in a short time helps this. I bought Battlefield Bad Company 6-12 months after launch and by the time I got in game everyone was already high rank. I found the game extremely frustrating and grindy, especially because everyone had better weapons and attachments than me.
