Letters in ETQW

(HalF-DeaD) #1

I would like to know if Unicode UTF-8 (or some else system?) will be implemented in ETQW so everyone whos native language is NOT English, can type with their characters like č,ć,đ,š,ž in Croatian.

(RR2DO2) #2

The game uses UCS2 for all its printed text. You should be fine

(KAGE) #3

as long as i can use these letters.
‘p’ ‘w’ ‘n’ ‘t’ and ‘l’ ‘o’ ‘l’

(Nail) #4

go nuts, that’s what bad word filters are for

(Grem-Gen) #5

Also something like this: GΞΠΞTX?

(Lanz) #6

Great news, I’m tired of having to replace å ä ö with a and o.

(jjpron) #7

Can the game automatically switch “viola” to “voila”?

(ayatollah) #8

Sure, if they licence Microsoft’s Proofing Tools! Just give me the word SD and I’ll make it happen!

(bartreligion) #9

what if anyone would want to say “viola”?

(Snoofer) #10

what characters are allowed to use in the name?

(ayatollah) #11

Judging by people’s talk about registering their name with the pre-order, I think it is only English characters, upper and lower-case, and spaces. But I may be wrong.

(Flesh) #12

Koliko ja znam, samo engleska abeceda.

(ayatollah) #13

Yes that is what I said! For all I know, they just use the English alphabet! No need to write in Croatian.

BTW I got posts deleted for being in Irish, yet there are many people coming on and posting in foreign languages…not pleased.

(Flesh) #14

Theres a whole thread started in french and youre complaining about a 6 word post in croatian…

(ayatollah) #15

Yes I know and my comment wasn’t directed at you, but at SD admin… You make us Irish feel sad :frowning:

(KAGE) #16

i thought the irish spoke english… :S

(ayatollah) #17

Racist… :stuck_out_tongue:

(murka) #18

well ET had something like this in ETPRO, and i liked it very much, as in Estonian there are õ and ö but if you replace it with o somebody might not understand, ah actually that was no problem but the problem was when i wrote them the characters wouldnt be shown, and that lead to some misunderstanding.

(jjpron) #19

Flesh, vidi se onda da neznas dovoljno.

what if anyone would want to say “viola”?

To use a line from MS programming manual:
“Why would everyone want to say “viola”? That’s a remote possibility and we won’t consider it. Next item!”

(HalF-DeaD) #20

I still dont see this in demo… Why it still isn’t implemented?
