let fieldops / binoculars unmask disguised covops

(bani) #1

Just as covops can spot mines for the team with binoculars, fieldops should be able to unmask disguised covops with binoculars. alternatively, allow anyone with binoculars to unmask disguised covops…

(Englander) #2

Its hard enough for the Covert Ops as it is IMO ,to let Field OPs or as u say everyone unmask them through the use of their bins would just make it pointless taking uniforms and therefor pointless being a Covert OPs.

(Dragon) #3

Maybe if the field ops had to hold their binoculars on them for a certain amount of time, (similar to the Covert ops seeing mines for his team)otherwise no, I wouldn’t like to see it implemented.

Covert Ops gets pummeled by his own team enough now

(/we await Banimod for ET  )

(Vengeance) #4

Since a field ops at lvl 4 can detect spys by putting there crosshair on them anywayz makes this a little pointless.

Also if everyone could spot spys with bins, no1 is gonna be covert ops and ruin the class

spies are very hard to spot when they show up other players names, and its getting silly when they reach level 4 and dont lose disguise upon shooting. For quite awhile i was under the impression spies simply didnt show up any name, which seemed quite well balanced as an aware covops can see someone is checking for the name/health and has a sec or two advantage to get the headshot in, or simply to keep going. When it shows up the guy who’s uniform he nicked, how are you supposed to know without putting a bullet in the legs? It becomes a medic role to routinely peck people and regen them with a healthpack - spotting for spies and getting a free exp at the same time.

Vengeance, how many level 4 field ops do you normally see in round 1? even by round 2 there’s rarely more than a couple.

Putting binoc’s on requires a bit of time and a deliberate effort, i.e. be suspecting someone is a spy already. Far as i can see it just replaces the alternative people seem to be favouring atm - shooting you a few times just in case :disgust: I havent worked out why it sometimes shows no name/health, and sometimes shows up that of the guy he took the uniform from (im guessing its EXP related or depends on wether other guy has respawned?), but showing no name seems to me to be the best way, binocs second best.

At some level of battle sense (?), it shows “Disguised Enemy” as the name. Naming yourself Disguised Enemy and filing a shitload of complaints is left as an exercise to the reader.

(Veritas) #7

that’d be quite the specticle. :blah:

(Englander) #8

Firstly when a C O reaches level 4 they only get assasin skill this only lets them use an un-slenced weapon,if an ememy is in looking in your general direction the uniform u have taken is taken away just like it is in every other XP level.

And you say how many level 4 Field Ops do you see in round 1,well the same could definately be said for C O how many C O will u see in level 1?C O XP levels are hard to build up much more harder than F O so the balance is already there. No need for these suggestions its fine as it is.

I think disguised CovOps on your team should have an icon letting you know they are on your team floating above their head at all times. Most people just start firing as soon as they see an enemy, and by the time they see the big red circle when they move their pointer over the person it’s too late. I hate being a CovOps just for my teammates to kill me everytime I grab an enemy uniform.

Medics always target their teammates to watch their health, so they are the “natural enemies” of spies. And Lvl 4 Lt’s can disguise spies. I think that’s enough of a challenge for spies as it is.

(RivrStyx) #12

What…lol. This doesn’t even make sense. You got like magic binoculars or something… this would be ridiculious. Lets keep it somewhat to real life …maybe we could cast spells to unmask them. Lets get real. Its perfect the way it is

(Vengeance) #13

lol riverstyx i agree. Maybe Splash Damage should add a wizard class

(xG -Abit-) #14

ERmm, wizard classes huh? I agree with stix- the class and game is fine the way it is. Just fix the bugz… only the bugz matter. I’m sure SD would agree.

(BoltyBoy) #15

Yeah Wizard class would rule and a fire breathing dragon and Elves who are good with bow & arrow. Now we’re on to something!

(DG) #16

As far as “wizard” binocs goes, well if you want realism, any member of a 10 man squad would probably be able to map out the spots of teammates, recognise them by body odour at fifty paces, accurately recall the lengh of that day’s beard growth and confidently say which way its hanging.

The idea of just wandering though 10 guys who live in bunked “accomodation” together, eat their meals together, shit together, sit in trenches and get shot at together and still have them not thinking its odd someone they dont recognise is wearing their mate’s outfit is stretching the imagination nearly as much as the fire-breathing dragon.

(RivrStyx) #17

That was intellegent. I think word was SOMEWHAT real… since its kinda hard to smell each other online and doubt we’ll all be living together. What branch did you serve in…lol. omg

(bani) #20

problem is that the players name shows up quite often. i point at player and get their name, only to have them turn round and shoot me
