Landmine diffused messages

(KamiKid) #1

Or that lack of them, I wish there were some “Landmine diffused by xxx” messages for the team only, not a global message. That way I can give my team some valuable info into where the enemy plants mines ect ect. I know it may not seem like a big thing and it really isn’t , its just another thing that would make this game more solid.

Wait… what. :???:

If you wanna give the team info on where the enemy plants mines… go covert op and spot them. They show up on the command map, and on the mini-map.

And, if you diffuse them… they disappear, no longer visible on the command map, minimap, or game screen.

Do you want it, just so that your team mates can hear that you’re an awesome engineer and you’re helping your team by disarming them so you can get your props or what do you think that this will accomplish. I don’t get it, it’s pretty solid they way it works already.

sounds good so you know which dipstick disarmed your mine, friendly or not

Yea, but he was saying it would be a team message, not a global one.

I could maybe see that though… you’d know that someone on your team disarmed one of the mines. For better or worse or whatever, but I still don’t see the point.

Neither do I…

Well, if I’m on a team and I cant see my engineer is diffusing landmines I wanna know dammit. First of all it lets me know the landmines are gone without checking my mini-map. Like who checks thier map every second? I’d just like a Audio message or something to let me know my Engineer is doing his job and or the mines are gone so I dont have to worry about them anymore. The same Message that lets me know a covert ops spotted a land mine I was a message the lets me know an Engineer has diffused one. What the hell is wrong with that?!

Like for example say a Covert Spots 6 mines all in different locations, I check on the map to see where they’ve been armed. Then I hear my Engineer has diffused one. I check my map and see where they’ve been diffused and where I can safely walk. Should I give more examples for the use of this message?

What I’d like is a “landmine spotted” vsay so that people with L4 battle sense can at least communicate to the alert teammates that there are mines in some general area. A lot of the time I’m in a small team of 2-3 people and I’m the only one with L4 battle sense. I take point, spot some mines, and step back, and before I can type in that there are mines, my teammates have run ahead of me and stepped on them. As far as diffusing goes, there already is a vsay for that. v19 “Mines cleared.”

If a Covert ‘spots’ a mine, it can be disarmed with a grenade. Don’t bother with pliers, just lob a hand-grenade nearby, boom, they’re all gone.

Once a Covert spots mines, there’s only a tiny% chance that an engineer will actually defuse them. Most spotted mines are destroyed by explosions (which don’t hurt them until they’re spotted). Grenades, panzers, or arty typically kill spotted mines in a short time- usually without being intentionally aimed at mines. (Once you’ve spotted mines, the enemy can accidently destroy their own mines with blasts)

For normal play, you shouldn’t ever be waiting for an engineer to clear mines for you. If you hear a mine report, you should just assume you can travel there by walking around, jumping, or exploding them yourself. If once you get there, they’re already cleared, that’s just a bonus.

Note: There is a bug with spotting mines. On the command map, a landmine has less precendence than a satchel or dynamite icon. So mines near an objective (like the fueldump fences) don’t show up. Mine icons should be drawn on top of most other icons.

from my config:

bind c “vsay_team minescleared”

Works fine for me.
