LAN - more than one player can't connect to my server - Help!

Hello All,

I have recently “re-discovered” this game and have been trying to play it at work with my co-workers during lunch. We have a dedicated gigabit-network switch that we are using to connect our three PCs together. We are all using static IP addresses (192.168.1.100 /24, 101, and 102 respectively). My machine is the server (non dedicated…I play on it)…it is running x64 Win7. The client machines are Windows XP. When one of them connects to the server, the other one can’t see the server in the “local” list or connect. Both of them can connect and play, but we can’t all play at the same time. I am running the game as an administrator in XP SP2 compatibility mode. All of us have turned off our firewalls, security applications, etc. I have played Quake and other FPS games over this same type of setup hundreds of times without any problems.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I answered my own question - I think…

"How do I get two computers to connect to the same server?
In order to get two computers on a home LAN connected to the same server, you will first need 2 retail copies of RTCW and a router.

1. First, each player needs to find the Wolfenstein (Multiplayer) shortcut on his/her desktop
2. Next, right click on the shortcut and select properties. You should see a properties box that is similar to the one shown here.
3. In the target line, each player needs to specify their net_port. Add the line +set net_port 27660 for the first player and 27661 for the next, etc.
4. Click the Apply button and then OK

I will test this at lunch today and hopefully be able to play.

please let us know how it goes. Not the first time I’ve seen this question go unanswered

Weird as UDP ports do not tie a connection on that port, TCP does this and makes a ‘link’ between host & client. UDP will accept any packets & not tie it a specific host (as far as I remember from 6 years ago :P).

My second post was the solution.
