Lame or Not Lame?

I had a player on our serve r yesterday who was killing himself repeatedly even though he was a pretty good player. He was a medic who after 1 round had Level 4 light weapons, level 3 battle sense and Level 0 medic. I decided to spec him and saw him doing one of 2 things:

  1. When his health would drop below 20 in a firefight, he would kill himself with \kill. I imagine he has a key bound that he could tap quickly when he knew he was going to lose.

  2. He would get in a firefight, get shot 2 or three times, head off to a corner and drop med packs on himself. When he would have no charge bar left he would \kill himself.

IMO, he’s takin away the XP from players in the game by robbing them of a kill. Is this Lame? Or a legitimate tactic? I kicked him off the server cause he wasn’t helping his team (only dropping packs at his feet, not even reviving his team mates) and he was robbing the XP from other players. Was I justified, or should this be acceptable?

Please note: He was a GOOD player. His aim was very good, he was getting lots of kills and would win in 2 on 1 and 3 on one situations.

Well, this is an old topic of discussion here, and the general consensus is: lame.

That said, it’s not ban-worthy lame, probably not even kick-worthy lame. Just verbal taunting lame.

Unless there’s only a few seconds to respawn it’s ultra lame.

Should lame people be kicked? Yes, if you like empty servers. :blah:

If you’re annoyed that he used “/kill” to re-charge a few seconds before spawn, it may or may not be considered lame, and has been discussed, at length, many times before.

If you’re annoyed that he used “/kill” to deny other players a few XP, then good on him cos anyone that gets upset about losing a few points from the games irrelevant and flawed points system doesn’t get any sympathy from me.

I don’t care about the XP, but IMO a player that /kills with 15 seconds until spawn does it with a single purpose, and that makes him a point-whore. He would help his team more if he stayed alive (and delayed the opposition) even if it’s just for one second (3-4 including gibbing)…

Since I’m usually a medic anyone who /kills himself saves me precious ammo.

Probably should just all go read this thread, save bringing it all up again. :???:

‘even though’ should be ‘because’ :bump:

But using it to deny xp is lame. But lets not get into this again, check the other 100 /kill threads for everyone’s opinion.

It’s very rare but I really hates those who does it in firefights.

Uses it myself when low on ammo and with only a few seconds to spawn but in firefights… never!

Eh, I’d kick him for it. That being said, it’s never a problem for me because my servers are all limited lives

if hes doing it with <5 sec on the clock he could be being smart/lame (argue amongst yourselves), if hes doing it with 15 hes either stupid or stat whoring. just lol at the lameness and not care.

Why use /kill when you can simply just pull out a grenade and hold it, let the grenade take you out and the enemies near you with it. This way you’ll respawn with a few more XP points. LoL

it is a legitimate tactic though, even though it is lame.

if you’ve ever played on servers like Locked Box or NARF for original RtCW, it wouldn’t surprise me if those players have like /kill binded to mouse3.

although, for one of the mods (ETPro, Shrub), there is a server option such that if you go into limbo by means of killing yourself or being tk’ed, you will spawn with the same amount of power bar that you died with. good option IMHO. maybe they should do that with ammo too!
