Lag Spikes

I thank SD for their incredible effort in this game, and ive been playing it non-stop, its my new fav :smiley:

With that out of the way, everyone has experienced a lag spike. Where everyone’s ping goes through the roof (999), or something close to that. The server hasnt crashed, its just really really really slow and laggy. Then, after a certain amount of time (varies, 1 minute to where i dont wait any longer), it goes back to normal.

Im just wondering what this is, how it occurs, why it occurs, and most of all, is there a fix (Server side or client side) that will help fix this extremely annoying problem.

Also, post if there will be some kind of update or fix for this problem :slight_smile:

that’s server side problems… maybe the host is downloading porn or something

i for one haven’t come across any problems with this game other htan one crash after i used a satchel pack

weird, about 25% of the servers i join have this problem. I guess ill just try to stay away from the ones i know that do it.

could be anything, examples…

  • server runs out of cpu for a moment
  • server runs out of bw for a moment
  • same things for any hop between you and the server
  • same things for your comp

if your finding this happening on 1/4 servers then i’d guess at it being something akin to option 3 there, related to your isp routing…

I’ve found from running a server, that when a client overflows with msgs and it scrolls the admin console like a mofo, it lags the server something fierce. Whenever I kick the client whose overflowing, the pings return to normal. Just something to watch for.

stay clear of jolt uk servers then

I honestly haven’t experienced this at all. Then again I’ve only played on a handful of server, and 2 regularly. My pings and packet integrity have been great… no spikes here.
