I was wondering if there is going to be any ladders for ET. So far I havent seen any, and very little clans. Is this because the game is so new? Or am I just a newb to the RTCW Style of games…Are there less clans than most games in RTCW/ET?
Ladders&Clans?
I also see very little clan at the moment, But it’s all good, the game is new and growing clans will appear continually :). A ladder would be cool, true. I hope Clans appear, since i am looking for one that would accept a newb in becoming

I think there will be some issues as regards Clan play, especially for existing RTCW Clans.
- Maps are too big, round times too long.
- Ideally need 8 - 10 players a side, RTCW Clans are geared up to 6.
- Experience Points system not viable for Clan games, need a mod to switch it off.
Maybe existing BF1942 Clans would find it easier to make the transition, we’ll see, but it’s a bit too early to say.
There’s an Italian E.T. tourney looking for sign-ups, here.
*Maps are too big, round times too long
So? It enables teams to use team work…I guess you could say
- Ideally need 8 - 10 players a side, RTCW Clans are geared up to 6.
Easy fix for that. Clans need to recruit more. No biggy there. For example I’m in need of a clan, and im sure theres a lot more people out there who are also.

True…Very very true. What I was thinking, is why not just leave the Xp point system as is. Have clan matches go by whoever wins the most maps, or campaigns. It seems like that would work just fine.

Ok…Why not just start new clans? I’m sure theres plenty of people out there who have experience in doing so. I know its not the easiest thing… But it would make the game 5x better if there were more clans!
OK Bloodshadow, you’re obviously not clanned.
The big maps, long rounds, means long games. Most RTCW matches last less than an hour. A 4-round game of E.T. (which would be the minimum required to make it fair, 2 x 2 Stopwatch) could last 2 hours. That’s too long. I think Clans are going to have to experiment with fewer rounds and shorter time limits. It’s not an issue of teamwork. Teamwork in Clan games is a whole different experience to what laughingly passes as teamwork on public servers.
It’s far from easy to fix the number of players issue. RTCW Clans have a helluva job recruiting as it is, managing squads of 10 - 12 players (maybe more), is not something they’re geared up to do. I know BF1942 play 10v10, and I take my hat off to them for managing to field 10 players all at the same time!
The XP issue is what happens if a player disconnects mid-game (say his PC crashes)? He loses his XP and his team is therefore disadvantaged because of a technical problem. Doesn’t happen in any other game because they’d simply pause while the player reconnects and then carry on like nothing had happened.
I think new E.T. Clans will form, and existing RTCW and BF1942 Clans will switch, but it’s too early to say which ones and how many. I think BF1942 Clans will have the easier ride because they’re structured that way already. RTCW Clans will find it harder, but they’ll own BF1942 Clans when they do.
Ok Ok…Point taken…
Is this because the game is so new? Or am I just a newb to the RTCW Style of games…
Ok…Im new to the style of RTCW… And i’ll admit I have Nooo clue how RTCW clans are run. Ive never been in one be4
But anways, im in a clan for Mohaa…and im not sure if Mohaa clans are run similar to RTCW or BF clans…but in the clan im in ( www.RAoV.com ) we have well over 25 members and we manage fine…were in 3rd or something on a couple of ladders. Were a typical elite mohaa clan. So i dont see the problem with having a lot of people in one clan. Ive seen clans with 100+ people…although I have no clue how that worked out… But now im just rambling…on and on… :banghead:
At Triple Zilch we just added a third server for ET and our clan is recruiting to add a ET group to our clan. We do plan to enter competition once it is available.
Check us out at: www.triplezilch.com
I would just like to warn everyone that Triple Zee have VERY strange recruiting ceremonies the practises therein are illegal in most civilised countries and often include farm animals and lard is often used as a lubricant.
It is also rumoured that Raven himself can often be seen in his home town sporting pigtails, a floral print dress and german paratrooper boots, which would be OKish but Raven is a large hairy male. :eek3:
going on what was said in the irc channel before rtcw ec final, cb will be leaving most things optional for clans to sort it out themselves, regarding teamsize, maps etc anyway. i guess theyll later go with what is popular. not exactly very certain on that though, maybe the admin was just keeping plans quiet for now or whatever…
i think the only realistic things SD could do atm to “support” clanwar is provide cvar for fixing EXP (exp may be used, it might not, seems unpopular atm for clanwar but who knows how it will go - the option is useful though :)). also seperate the support fire restriction with its own cvar, otherwise keeping it and the other heavyweap restrictions “as is” though, quite a smart way to do it (if a little confusing at first).
the other issues i agree with but clans will basically have to work something out, even if it involves… custom maps
Large hairy male eh? Why Smyler you’ve been peeking! Com’ on back and visit us at Triple Z you Irish cunt!
You KNOW I’ve got a thing about that outfit.
sigh three more months and then alcohol (I hope).
