Knockdowns

(madoule) #61

wasn’t there something mentioned that light class guys have a faster in the recovery?

(Senethro) #62

Sounds like it’ll encourage teamwork. A solo player will get killed by a knockdown but a pair will destroy the guy sliding in and move on having taken no damage.

(Herandar) #63

Not sure I understand you, but I think what you are trying to say is that the person that bested you multiple times cheated?

Yeah, now we know what type of person you are. No one has ever knifed me from 10 meters away. I have been knifed a couple of times by guys that were in front of me facing the same direction, but I assume that is because of lag, not because that person is a cheater.

So lets see the stats of your serious account. I’m not sure how the hours spent on your “fun account” don’t count toward the total hours you’ve played the game.

(Senethro) #64

In the early patches of BC2 it was not unknown for you to attempt to knife someone, when suddenly your vision would snap 120 degrees left, you teleport through a wall and stab someone in the face. It has since been fixed but its gone through various degrees of brokenness.

Krysiss is still wrong though and trying to call that account his “fun account” is a hilarious backpedal.

(Murderous Pie) #65

How about we get back to the origional problem, eh?

(Wraith) #66

Well I will do my best to be creative mwhahaha :stroggbanana:

(gee666) #67

So from above can you drop on someone to knock down?

(beute) #68

I still dont get the whole knockdown/incapacitated/kill thing…

let me try:

knockdown:
you get knocked to the ground, you can still shoot and you can stand up, but standing up would take a while and wouldnt be a good choice if the enemy is still shooting at you.
right/wrong?!

incapacitated:
BF2 style waiting for revival/respawn.
I know you can choose to NOT respawn in the 20 seconds wave, but how long can you lay incapacitated on the ground?
there is surely a time limit, no?
also, you cannot shoot unless you have a special perk/ability. right/wrong?

death/kill:
Here is my problem, can you ONLY die when you’re incapacitated?!
meaning, you are incapacitated and an enemy finishes you off.
or can you die while still fighting like in every other shooter?!

When I watched the choir of the guns trailer I only saw incapacitations/knockdowns, they always just fall on their back in a pre set animation, wich could look pretty silly if every death looks like that…

but looking at the first container city gameplay you can see bodies flying around thanks to grenades etc, there was just one incapacitated, when Paul shot one guy with a shotgun and then proceeded to finish him of with a pistol.

also: will knockdowns/incapacitations have a different animation?

thanks for answering.

In previous SD games, if enough damage was caused you would go straight to dead, but in most cases you become incapacitated and either await to be revived, join the next spawn, or the enemy finishes you off.

Mostly right; you can shoot while getting up, but at a severe accuracy penalty. You have to make the call whether it’s better to try to shoot the enemy while you’re on the ground, and then get up after you’ve killed them, or risk getting up initially to regain mobility.

incapacitated:
BF2 style waiting for revival/respawn.

You can lay incapacitated indefinitely, as long as an enemy doesn’t finish you off. Only an ability lets you fire when incapacitated, and at the cost of greatly reduced health while in the incapacitated state.

death/kill:
Here is my problem, can you ONLY die when you’re incapacitated?!

Correct, you can only die while incapacitated. Believe me, you can still end up dying pretty darn quickly. A change we made during Brink’s production was that damage will not carry over between alive and incapped states… which I know won’t be a popular decision with some, but I really think makes the game more fun all around.

Another useless post by Anthony… we’re 100% so far then.

(Jess Alon) #73

What happens when two people slide at each other at the same time. And one’s a medium and one’s a light? Does it make a difference? Would the medium knock down the light having the higher health bar? Or would the light knock down the medium being that he probably slides faster and has more momentum?

Or would they just go right past each other if in a slide at the same time?

(Nail) #74

lol, our own personal Whinefire.nu

(tokamak) #75

Newton’s second law, momentum is also dependant on mass.

(Auzner) #76

If that applied in ET then panzer could not gib and backstabs wouldn’t be instant kill. But ET you could never really tell what your incapped hp was. I don’t know how to picture this right now, I’d have to witness it. But if an entire team is concentrating fire on one person they wouldn’t be instantly tapped out due to damage. This sounds like a thing to give medics more of a chance. The guy can wait longer and sustain more ground damage.

(Jess Alon) #77

Yeah but the lights move faster so they probably slide faster. Mass or no mass. It is a game.

(H0RSE) #78

So essentially, are you saying that when you incap a player, his health goes back to full, or is there some sort of “incap health meter” that it kicks in when they go down?

(tokamak) #79

You do realise I can turn it around just as easy?

“Yeah but heavies are heavier, so they displace way more weight and hit with a higher impact. Speed or no speed. It is a game.”

The only thing that should determine the impact is force and force is decided by speed AND mass in EQUAL measure.

(Auzner) #80

I love how all arguments are conveniently ended with that phrase. Griefers use it the most. “It’s just a game.”

Your lesson is wasted. “But in CoD…”
