Knife Problem

Ok,
I’ve been playing wolf et for several weeks now (and got to say I think it’s great!) but recently I’ve been having a problem with my knife. No matter what weapon I select i will be running around for maybe 30 seconds and it will jump back to the knife again. Usually just an annoyance, but if you’re in the middle of a fire fight and you suddenly find yourself waving a knife at someone 20 yards away you feel like a bit of a fool!

This problem didn’t exist originally, and only started to occur over the past 2 days irrespective of which server I’m on.
I’ve rebooted, i’ve reinstalled, all to no avail.
It’s not a keyboard problem (i don’t get random 1’s occuring while i’m typing)
So i’m at a loss.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas how to fix it?

heh… sounds like someone played with your CFG a bit…

/bind mouse1 ‘weaponbank 0’ etc :frowning:
hmm but you say you’ve reinstalled… Also delete your CFGs? :o

Don’t think it’s the mouse wheel thing, although I’ll be careful in future.
No-one has really been on my computer to move/change things (as far as I know!) but when I did the re-install i deleted the entire directory too (unless there’s others i don’t know about).
am I missing a trick?

I know my mouse wheel is pretty sensible and it sometimes rolls by itself but it doesn’t happen very often.

easy way to check for this is load up any map and put into console:

“/pb_bindsrch weaponbank”

and it’ll show a list of keys that have any “weaponbank” bound to it. look for any keys you wouldnt expect to be the knife to be bound to weaponbank 10 (or anything other than 1-9)

Just played now and it was still doing it… is definately not from the mouse wheel and not from accidently pressing other buttons, so I’m at a loss.
Since no-one else has reported having the problem I guess it’s just something freeky going on in my machine.
Thanks for the ideas tho guys… at least it gave me somthing new to try

If you don’t have Punkbuster enabled a /bindlist will do (nearly) the same.

You have to dig a little deeper into his posts, he means roll with it, use the knife instead of the gun, then you wouldn’t need to solve the problem :slight_smile:
