Kimbo/Dual wield Pistols

(NigelDocker) #1

In the trailer for Brink it made a big emphasis on the free running, but also on daul wield/kimbo pistols.
They come up twice in the main trailer for the game and and payed allot of attention to it.
I was very suprized that they wasn’t in the actual game after watching the trailer leading me to believe there were…

Dual wield Pistols would be very good as at the moment pistols are under used.
The revolver and sea eagle can be very good, the machine pistol can be ok, but for the rest… you would be better of with the above 3.
Plus if you are not a light then there really is no reason to use a pistol atall over an SMG. Apart from the revolver with an ‘Acog site’ (it pwns, better than draganov in my experience)

To put it in the trailer very clearly and not to have it in the actual game is beyond me. specially when really suits the game, most for the light body type and would help with the balance of some pistols also.

Heres the trailer ;

Vote if you want Dual pistols in Brink

I’d love to be able to carry two pistols, let alone use them in dual fire. Maybe it should be a special universal ability. Gives greater rate of fire, but at reduced accuracy and reload speed.

I agree, I thought they would be in as well after seeing the trailer, and even now I think they’d make a cool addition to the game. I like what some people have been suggesting which is simply add it as an ability in future DLC. That would be a nice idea no?

(Ultima) #4

Absolutely agree! I love your point that there should be some negative to it as well. I think if they did the above it would be a perfect fit for the game.

(nick1021) #5

This game really needs them. It will add a lot to the cool factor.

I use downed fire with shotgun just because it’s cool (until I realized he uses both hands).

(Cep) #6

Of course nade throwing may cause a little bit of a problem, but then again I guess that could also be a negative when using the ability. No nades!

(NigelDocker) #7

Theres no doubt it would be great in the game and suits it, it could do with it, and was probably meant to be in it.
Let this be a message to the devs; Give us what you showed us in the trailer, we thought it was goingto to be in the game like advertised, it would be good in the game, it suits it, we want it.
(please)

(Ultima) #8

Yes, I think that’s perfect as well. Incentive to use it: More damage, obviously twice as many shots before reload. Disadvantage: Longer reload time and no grenades.

(Hot-Wire) #9

and no knife.

(Je T´aime) #10

It would be cool i agree, I probably would not use it but more diversity the better.

And yes, it would certainly look cooler, imagine sliding into somebody while unloading dual pistols on them.

I blame the trailer for a lot of misconceptions about Brink, it should have stayed true to the game and staved off any incline that there was more to the gameplay than had been shown. That said… people also need to realize that it was a cinematic trailer, and not everything shown in a cinematic trailer makes it into the game.

(Ultima) #13

But would taking away the knife be a good idea? That’s one of the current incentives to use pistols, although it would make a lot more sense that way. Also, it would add a little more strategy and variety. Do you wanna use a single pistol but still be able to use a knife and grenades? Or do you want to dual wield, do more damage, have more ammo, but lose the ability to use grenades and a knife.

Actually, when I looked at the trailer, one of the top comments said there wasn’t going to be akimbo, you can’t do flips like that, and you can’t pick up weapons.

But honestly, I don’t see game mechanics in cinematic trailers but not in the game (dual pistols is a game mechanic).

I mean ofc you are going to do all the bad assery MC does in his campaigns, but when they show him with dual wield smgs, there are going to be dual wieldable smgs.

(Zarel) #15

I praise the trailer for giving us something new to shout about. DUAL WIELD PISTOLS NOW!!!

Gawd I feel like a happy douche doing that on ETQW.

:edit:
I meant on the dual-wielding. not on the shouting. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Ultima) #16

We know that, we’re just speculating what if it did.

(Hot-Wire) #17

If there’s no hands for grenades, then no hands for knife.

A simple pistol butt to the head would do.

Your last sentence there is what’s most important to remember. think of all the cinematic trailers you’ve seen since you’ve been gaming. how many include all mechanics to the actual gameplay?

You can’t do the side somersault the guy with the dreads does either. You can’t release a crane and drop a security/maintenance bot on someone either.

The most recent Prey 2 trailer looks awesome. But I’m not expecting to do everything the character did. If we can, that’s great but I’m being realistic about.

Look at this stellar trailer for SW Old Republic…a MMORPG, where we know the gameplay will not be like this. http://evga.com/gaming/?p=3984

I think many are looking for more ammunition to bash the game. None is needed there are plenty of valid gripes. But to pick apart the cinematic for elements not in the game seems like you’re reaching.

With that said. Dual wielding would just be cool to include regardless of where we saw it.

Oh nice, a way to replace the knife and still have a melee attack, but I’m guessing it would do less damage right?

We’re not bashing or picking apart the trailer. The trailer is just where we happened to see it, and we think it would be cool in game, that’s all. We’re not saying ‘Oh, just cause it was in the cinematic trailer, it should be in the game’. I think this topic would have come up regardless because it really would be a cool thing to add in, that’s all we’re talking about really. So, similar to your last line, that’s basically what most of us are thinking.
