Kill XP/Assist XP changes

This has been bothering me for a while now and I’m not sure if it has been brought up but when I almost kill someone and then someone else finished it off I always get a flat 25 xp for assist. Which seems a little bit underwhelming. I would love to see it changed so it scales depending how much hp you managed to deduct. Of course, when the players get’s healed up again you don’t get that bonus anymore.

Also, It would I think be cool you get bonus xp for the following things:

Bonus xp if the player you killed was on a killing streak
Bonus xp if the player you killed was protecting or trying to complete the objective

I feel like this would be more rewarding to players. Also, Objective xp wise I would like to see more xp during the escort of the EV. or when trying to capture a point.

Somehow I find this idea coming from you a bit strange. In the ADS thread you say, remove ADS, its not COD and now you ask to get more xp from Assists? Want also xp for not hitting the enemy, some Supression xp? Like CoD/BF?

Overall, I woulndt mind if there was no Assist XP at all. Just give Xp for a kill, not more not less.

Honestly, I just phrased it a bit poorly in the other thread. I didn’t meant really to remove ADS just the way it is is fine and I don’t really see the need for it as I never use it. I never really said to see it removed.

The issue is the good ol’ kill steal: you do most of the work and someone comes along to finish and reaps all the rewards :frowning:

If I recall correctly, Brink gave XP in proportion to the damage done. So for instance the guy with the kill could get 10 XP if he only scored the one bullet killshot, while the guy with the assist would end up with 90. Then again Bring didn’t tally kills, so it made no real difference who scored the death blow…

To your suggestions:
the assist xp dont bother me, I dont care if there is a reward or not. But the EV Escort xp could be a bit higher, I think its 2 xp now, righ? maybe 5 xp every 5(?) secs next to the xp would be fine.
The xp for completing an obj (500xp if I’m not completly wrong) is a fair value I think.

Personally I like to see more xp from teamplay actions, like giving med packs/ammo packs, revive players etc. XP should award the teamplay and if you just play on your own, your xp should be lower. But dont focus too much on xp, it will end up in xp farming.

xp doesn’t matter one bit atm. and i’m not sure i want it to matter.
i think it would be all the same to me if it just said “Kill” or “Assist” without any BS value attached to it.

in terms of rewarding teamplay, one thing i feel is missing is seeing the name of whoever planted/disarmed/completed objectives.
(maybe it already shows that…? there is some text relating to the objectives, but i can never actually read what it says.)

Oh definitly. That’s also a point I wanted to bring up. Instead of “Defenders Disarmed the C4” I’d like to see “Defender [insert name] disarmed the C4”

And I don’t really care of the xp does anything or not, I just like seeing numbers. It just makes me feel better even if it’s in the end utterly pointless.

Guess it’s just a matter of personal taste to be honest. I like W:ET for example, just because of the simplicity of the game. Of course there are some things I don’t like there as well, but I’ve become used to those handicaps. Thus I have to get used to the new features of DB, though I don’t deny the way kills were awarded there was bad.

+1 for that. And please make it so that all significant contributors are listed (not every guy who took one shot at the EV, but if multiple players are defusing together for instance)

Oldskool shooters didn’t have XP, that’s what makes them oldskool.

XP is the spawn of Satan and needs to be removed entirely IMO, bring back the days when players did what had to be done because it had to be done, not because they got points for doing it. I certainly never got TK’ed in RTCW because I’d planted a dynamite and a team-mate wanted the points for it instead, but that happened to me in the first few weeks playing ET.

If you consider W:ET Old school, that had XP. Even if it was only ingame.

and more xp for revives, giving ammo all that **** so people will give more thought to helping the team rather than focusing on frags

I never played RTCW online. Well, I once tried and didn’t see any populated servers so I went to ET. And that was already like 10 years ago.

giving ammo/health to self should not give XP or count when determining best fops/medic.

It doesn’t give yourself xp. Just displays the message saying you got ammo/health.

yeah, i wasn’t really sure that it did. it does count towards the Ammo Supplied amount, though. not sure if that affects anything.
