Yes ofcourse - they may have taken it out completely.
Kinjal needing proof, I thought I’d satisfy his curiosity with that.
Kill / Death Stats
I don’t know really, that video was made 4 months ago. May be there is no K/D stats by now, who knows, we have to wait till the new video arrive.
It replaces one flawed system with a system that isn’t necessarily perfect yet still the very best there is.
although the question is not definitely answered yet, i m glad that i m not the only one who thinks they shouldnt display kill/death ratio
of course, in a perfect world it would be nice to have some additional stats but apparently we all know that these kinds of stats have a bad influence on some people and the way they play…
Yes but it works both ways… the rahdo quote that was posted on this forum, is much much older. No point in asking proof, and then saying it may not be that way on release imo.
You may as well wait for the game to come out.

I just used the latest info I know about a leader boards, and asked if there any new info that I may be missed. But the video is not that type of info u can rely on, end game results could be made just for game show, and it’s not that SD want to see in the release, because of Rahdo words. I thought Cankor saw some sort of new SD policy about leader boards, so then I asked about proof I wanted to see the source and nothing more (I thought about preview or interview).
P.S. lol, when i wrote, Exedore post the answer, so policy is still the same, HORSE info is still actual
I think they shouldn’t even display what team won the round, that’s just for jerks
W:ET’s stats were awesome btw. Simple for everyone, but more details obtainable for those interested. There’s a distinction between celebrating a certain statistic and subtly making it available to players.
In my experience, the opposite is true.
When players dont play well, and its there for all to see - they tend to bitch and moan about it, particularly when they are playing with their friends. You know, they have a deluded image to uphold.
99.99% of the players I know who always have decent stats, dont say a word to anyone.
Good decision that brink won’t show the K/D, imo!
In CoD it’s okay, but not in team-based games (yes, cod is also teambased… but you know.)
I liked it in the BC2 beta that there was no K/D, but then they added it.
Everyone agrees that stats influence game play: Most folks believe in a negative way. Well, if stats can influence one way, they can also influence in other ways – it depends on how the system is tuned.
How would a stats junky play a team-goal oriented game under conditions where points were contingent on the team completing an objective, and bonus was given for objective completion or even attempting completion?
Let me use a simple example: Team Offence must complete three objectives to win. Team Defence must hold them off for twenty-one minutes.
Offence points are only accrued when an objective is met and bonus points are rewarded for beating set times. In this example of three objectives, points would be portioned 1/3 per objective (or any other ratio that made sense for that particular map) plus a ratio of (time remaining/time allotted per objective). That is, get past objective-1, and 1/3 of any points you as a player accumulated, on team reaching said objective, are yours to keep. Get past objective-2 and 2/3 of your personal score is yours to keep. Don’t get past an objective and zero percent of your points are yours to keep on that objective. Get past objective-1 with 50% of the allotted time remaining and get 1/3 + 50% X 1/3, and so on for each objective. The numbers could add up quickly.
Defence points would be based on hold times and objectives held. Hold the first objective past seven minutes (or whatever time makes sense) and 1/3 of your points are yours. Give it up with time remaining against objective-1 and zero % of the points scored defending that objective, are keepers. Hold past the allotted time and 1/3 + 1/3 X ratio of (time held/time allotted) is yours to keep.
The player making the objective scores a large obj bonus, while players helping at/in/close-to the objective zone share a considerable pool of assist points.
Individual player scores may differ, but the team members all win or they all lose – a variation on the team average/shared points concept @xTriXxy mentioned.
Doesn’t prevent fragging, just discourages needless fragging that doesn’t further the cause.
So, a stat junky could be happily accumulating kills and find him/herself with zero points in the end if not paying attention to the objectives. Also, teams would very quickly blacklist team mates they thought had robbed them of points by neglecting the objective.
There are a few problems. One. Most games… let’s use BC2 as an example as it’s one of the more active objective based multiplayers going right now. You get extra points for your teamwork. But really you could just be going for kills and get those points. I’m running around trying to get points and better my K/D. I see an enemy. Kill him. Oh he was shooting my team mate? I got 50 points? Will I try to kill the guy that’s gonna kill my teammate next time? Probably. So I can get those points and be less likely to die. I’m a medic and I want the M60. I get points for reviving people? And those people will most likely get killed instead of me AGAIN. Yeah I’ll take that too. You can’t really make a person stop being a dick but at least you can change their parameters and make a more positive experience for those that are searching for that. Because face it some people are just going to go where the masses are. And deep down we kind of like it a little.
I wonder if brink will have “avenger kills”. Or if you can see the guys your teammates see on radar.
Also Brink will probably on some level reward you for killing with style. Like maybe coming out of a smart move and immediately pulling off some flashy kill. And it’ll piss you off that you can’t do that if you can’t do that. But in a sense that’s teamwork too right?
Anywho. I think that brink should emphasize teamwork as making or breaking a player. If you can’t work together you sink.
It happens in BC2. I can’t count how many times I’ll be playing that game and I’ll be getting destroyed. And I invite 3 people on to be in a squad with me and we communicate and help each other and we own the map. Regardless of the peons on our team that are running in circles contributing nothing while the other team blew us away before.
Oh get over it. I’m talking about this individualistic hotshot look how awesome I am crap. I’m not talking about what team won.

My K/D rate is .52 on BC2 and when I started out I got raped so bad it was .21
But I don’t drop out of a match when I’m outmatched by the other team and my team sucks either. I look at it as a learning experience. Because I want to be a better gamer. So if I get the **** kicked out of me it’ll only make me tougher.

What annoys me about CoD is that it doesn’t matter what the game mode is, the leaderboard always lists the players by kills, which completely removes importance from tasks such as capturing flags or planting bombs.
Usually the players who have the best k/d ratio are not braggin about it.
At least in my experience, in etqw I don’t hear anyone braggin about how they had most kills.
The people who DIDN’T get the most kills however, are typing in global chat how much they had.
Sounds to me some people are just jealous.
it means that roughly he gets killed 4 out of 5 people when he started playing (0.21)
(Killing 1/5)
and now he manages to get killed by 3/4 the people he runs into.
(Killing 1/4)
So he’s improving
When he manages to get killed by 2/4 (aka 1/2) his k/d will be 1.00
(Killing 1/2, so he kills one, gets killed, kills one, gets killed)
Or was your question just regarding wether or not there should be a 0 in front of those dots?
