Ping is a noticeable advantage. I ping my “home” server at about 40ms, and I do score kills based on ping alone. The lag compensation does help even this out, especially when you’re fighting someone in an open space at medium range. But coming around a corner at close range, low ping helps you score that first hit. And the first hit usually decides the outcome.

Sage words brothers, sage words. But as I say the anti lag code in ET helps quite a bit (at least in my experience), although whenever someone REALLY runs me down, like the old days of wolf as in “WTF happened there” you will almost surely have been hit by the bastard who is sitting on top of the server.

[quote="[=O=]SMYLER"]No offence man but that last statement betrays your noobishness

No offence taken

With that reasoning all European teams would have lost in the Quakecon qualifiers. Granted some of them most likely lost because of ping disadvantage, but some of them won despite this. I totally agree that ping gives an advantage, all I’m saying is that there is more than ping that makes you a good player. Simple test: I ping pretty good but have not a chance against top Wolf players with similar ping.

Oh hell yeah you’re right there’s a lot more to a demon player than ping but also referring to another thread in wolfy the uber pingers ran rings 'round everyone now they don’t nearly as much in ET due to good anti lag code (IMO anyway).

I have to say ping does make a difference i know from my personal experience is that i kill more ppl on servers were i get 50 ping. Servers where i have 100+ ping i dont kill as much.

I look forward to the day were ppl have equal pings
