preferably it would be better to replace kill/death ratio…with “experience earned/death” ratio. Is the kil/death metric supposed to improve team play. no game that has ever used that metric has ever improved coop play.
k/d ratio makes no snese in objective gamemode
A score per minute will be added eventually(it has a spot reserved that says ‘coming soon’).
And K/D is only visible at the end of the game.
I’ve never understood why people are against having stats like K/D. I want more states, not less. Knowing exactly what a person did to get their score is much better than some cumulative number of random unseen stats that means nothing.
There’s nothing wrong with K/D, it’s actually really well handled in this game where its only shown after the game is over. If the game didn’t show your K/D I probably wouldn’t play it, I need to know I did well.
I think the most important part about showing the KD is that it shows people with high scores but low KD. It helps people understand that there is more then killing.
There are Slayer roles you know? (Fragger, Vassili, etc.) They at least need to get an idea if they are improving or not.
My 2 cents not that it matters because people have said this since closed beta.
K/D is fine but if your playing this game solely for K/D your in the wrong game. But why not also have revives, gibs, health packs, arty kills, grenade hits, etc etc. included. With this many Mercs that is an obvious flaw.
I mainly play sawbones because hardly anyone else goes medic in pubs, would be nice for the scrubs saying medics suck 16/20 wtf your bad, meanwhile i had like 20 revives and countless healing yada yada
The K/D it shows at end of game is just the K/D for that game. So I think it doesn’t really add anything, since I already knew I went 13-7 or something like that.
It can get pretty intense and you don’t always know what you walk away with until the end. In particular on a grindy objective that your assault fail on a lot. I don’t know about others, but I generally am not counting

This is true. When I play medic I barely kill anything until they get close near my allies who I am supporting constantly and revives and revive sprees are normal badges for every match now. But I don’t want to get ridiculed for the K/D score. Someone says “you died so many times”… Well hotshot you lived because I died.
Game mode and support score should be visible to anyone in the game.
Quite a good part of newcomers still don’t understand that those are vital for the team and subsequently for their own personal grind…
The thing with KD is that some players far from having the skill level required already start trying improving it. I’ve seen numerous people tapping out with no obvious reason all game long with fair numbers of medics in their team because revive is +1 death and you may end up with 45 hp. Therefore they don’t trust medic in their KD graal.
But in the end, they understand how useful they can be :)…
I don’t think that a revive is +1 death because I’ve had a few games where I’ve ended up with /0 but was definitely revived.
It definitely is. In an older beta, we had K/D live in the score tab and I never noticed revives not giving +1 death. As a lemming, I’ve done quite a lot of games where my teammates are reviving me 24/7 with almost no start from spawn and I generally end up with dreadful KD…
Its been my experience people play worse when they are told these things , the bigger problem than posting them is that kills whether they are utterly useless or vital all earn the same. as it names and shames you for your kills/ deaths people will obviously want to score more kills and die less. but the thing is and its especially true for the attackers often that is playing to loose
i cant count how many games ive only won because i was willing to die repeatedly to push and take objectives, sure they get rewarded to but unless there’s a lot of side objectives and the games fast a farmer will earn more and contribute far less.
is it a team based game where only the win matters or is it a lone wolf score attack competition against your own team?
Stats aren’t kept long term, the k/d is only shown at round end. I really don’t see the problem.
No. Getting incapped counts as a kill to the person that got the ‘kill shot.’ Getting gibbed (not incapped) counts as a death. That’s why there always are many more kills, then deaths on the endgame scoreboard.
But I agree it’s a problem that players think this. Like it’s also a problem that players think they get a kill deducted if the player they downed is revived.
It is other fps’ that has thought them a wrong mentality, with focus on individual stats, rather then teamwork.
It would probably be really better, to show support-, game-, and combat-xp to all at the end, and the KD only to the player him-/herself.
Kdr is fine if the people understand it’s a teamplay-based game, a pity most don’t. But we had battlemedics in et aswell, didn’t we? Still for Assault-classes its the only point to see for themselves if they were’re good, improved, etc. Yes.
Still I would only count respawns as real kills. Imo there is no point in counting later-revived players as kills, as it was “only” time- and ammoconsupmtion, and often the revived players make the difference.
So either a player respawns on his/her own will, or you did the greater part of the damage, it took to kill and gib him/her, probbaly count the gib-dmg twice. Then you should get the kill, otherwise not.
If kills weren’t counted unless the guy ended up gibbed it would be extremely frustrating. No point in doing that.
Guess we are. The reward of someone being gibbed is that they aren’t revived, you don’t need a tally for that. I want a tally for how many people I put down and if you take that away from me I’m going to leave this game so fast you won’t even see me go.
