Personally I’d rather this was removed from objective, I’ve seen it affect players in a few ways… some padding their kills and concentrating on that for bragging rights or so they don’t look bad in front of their peers, others seeing their kills vs deaths are bad and it’s affecting their mood in game. I don’t see a need for it on the main scoreboard as we play, RtCW, W:ET and ETQW didn’t have it. I liked the way ET and ETQW did it where you could see only your stats at the end of the round and it wasn’t on a glorified scoreboard.
K/D On Scoreboard
I’d like to see my own kills, deaths and accuracy mid-game (on scoreboard), but no-one else’s.
Hmm I still think having it there would drive some undesirable gameplay. If it’s in your face and playing on your mind, it’s going to affect how you play.
Yeah I can only see good coming from it’s removal, keep it for TDM servers where it belongs.
there was actually already a thread on this

I suggest we go for this revolutionary approach in which we look at what SD did with ETQW and the do exactly that thing.
What SC2 does is bull****. Coddling the lower players by hiding their failures is not cool. Still personal stats and stats you’re showing publicly are two different things.
You didn´t have to delete it. The condenscending attitude Blizzard takes to casual players is something SD wants to avoid.
K/D isn’t really that important in this game as its all about the objectives. Mine is usually crap but as long as the obj is done that’s what matters :).
I think this is a myth about k/d, removing it won’t change the type of player. But at least it should be removed from the objective mode.
+1 it only fit the modes when fragging is the main goal like TDM and DM
Glad that this discussion has been brought up already. I’m not very happy with the K/D being on the scoreboard. Most players will just play for their K/D rate regardless of the actual objective, which will totally ruin the main aspect of the game.
With deaths shown for example, some people will turn into campers, will be afraid of doing lemming tactics or getting in the action in general. People will just play on their own. And kills always mattered more than deaths, but still not that much. SD games are spawn wave based, where your death rate will increase witheach respawn anyway.
I prefer the way QW handled it, where you could see your own kills at the end of the map.

I think it makes a huge impact on the way people play. I see vastly different playstyles between objective-based games that show kdr, and those that don’t. It’s fine to supply it for the player’s personal information, but once you start displaying it to the whole pub, it makes a difference. If a player is with their friends, they will often start to become protective of their kdr. In ET games especially, you have to be able to play aggressively sometimes on offense, and not mind dying several times in a row. If you have a permanent KDR stat displayed to the public, you also get people who disconnect from games when their kdr starts to go negative, and people who favor imbalanced games so that they can boost their score. I think its much more relaxing to play when all you have to think about it playing well and trying to win.
Obviously, it makes sense in TDM.
I don’t see why kd is a big deal if your in sw or obj mode regardless of whether it’s shown. The main goal is well known as being the completion of objectives and anyone who has a high kd on the losing team, still lost… I’m neutral on keeping/removal I guess. I suppose it does make more sense in the general scheme just to stick to the “top fragger award” in the game end screen.

Its not important currently, because of the fast spawn waves.
Once [or I should say if] spawn times are extended, then K/D and KPM will have a significant bearing on the match.
If players have an exception kill death ratio then it could deserve a special notion (along with killing sprees or other remarkable stuff). But if it’s on the main board then it will confuse people about what exactly the point of the game is. There are COD game modes that technically revolve around objectives, but because these objectives are so difficult to complete people end up attaching more value to K/D. And you can’t blame them because the K/D is the most prominent thing on the scoreboard.
