just out of curiosity...

how many of you would have been willing to pay for enemy territory if it was not realeased for free,

(Wraith2k3) #2

I would have paid, £10, MAYBE £20. (for the game as it is now)

for full price (ie £30 - £40) I would have expected more than 6 maps.

(Vengeance) #3

I wouldve gladly paid £30, for just the multiplayer and im sure my bro would’ve bought another copy for himself as well.

(Cerebrate) #4

I’d pay full price for this game - no doubt. I just bought Rise of Nations, and haven’t played it 1% as much as ET. On the other side; if it had cost money, I may never have tried it or given it a chance. I’ve never tried BF1942 for example (ok, briefly), and RTCW only after I played ET for a while.

(Ranstaton) #5

I would have definetly payed if it would mean we would be getting some of these bugs (like hit boxes) patched up…

(Ragnar_40k) #6

I would have paid for it: up to 30€ for MP only, up to 60€ for a SP+MP game. And I already had placed an order at my local software store.

(Englander) #7

When you look at some games out there what charge full price and suck like crazy this would have been well worth paying for.

Answer to the question is “I WOULD HAVE DEFINATELY BOUGHT ET!!!”

(twiFight) #8

Well yes and no.

I play this game so much and have so much fun with it that it’s definately worth about $20 - $25. With a decent single player campaign even a buck or 40. Ofcourse this would mean that it had to be a full game, e.g. more maps and better code / less bugs. Not that it’s bad the way it is, but it has room for improvement

On the other hand, if I had to pay for this game I would have never tried it and never would have payed for this game in the first place.

(mAkrelmaden) #9

I would definately have payed for ET
But then again, you cant sell a MP game
with only six maps ;).

(WiGgLeRiCe) #10

Who knows , with the popularity of ET they may come out with an expansion pack with alot more maps and goodies and sell them in stores for about $30 bucks. The expansion pack would be sucessful cuz they already have us hopelessly addicted to ET lol

I’ve not voted because I don’t know if I’d even tryed this game. If the question was “Do you prefer ET free ?” I would’ve voted “yes”. I’m happy with the current situation, if it was not free, it would’ve been just another (good) multiplayer FPS. The 0$ cost makes it even more cool, even if it’s not supported as a commercial product (anyway it works not too bad).

I want to thank Splashdamage, Id Software, Activision and whoever I forget for bringing us such a cool game, the only multiplayer FPS of this quality to be free, available both on Windows and Linux, which is another coolness improver.
:drink:

PS: Sorry if i’m slightly off-topic, and sometimes off-english

(Englander) #12

You talk like theres loads of good FPS games out there and in your opinion there might be ,but IMO theres only RTCW what comes close to ET, the rest are garbage.

IMO I think the answer to this lies with the RTCW fans,if you loved RTCW you would have spent the money to buy ET and consider it money well spent, but if you dont like RTCW or have never played it you would have probably not even been bothered about ET never mind buy it.

I would definitely have exchanged coin of the realm for this mighty fine gaming experience.

I’d enjoyed RtCW SP and MP so much I was really looking forward to the intended release of ET as an SP and MP game. If that had been released I would definitely have gone out and bought it straight away without using my usual tight-arsed git ploy of waiting for the price to come down. I agree with Englander, there’s not much else out there I fancy so this would have been a must have.

As for price, I reckon it could have sold for £20. But when I think about the relative costs of other forms of entertainment, that’s really dirt cheap. I guess I won’t be alone when I say I probably spend more than 10 hours a week playing ET. Compared to spending £30 to watch 90 minutes of football, or £30 to spend 4 hours playing a half decent golf course, spending money on a thoroughy addictive MP game is a good buy.

It’s obvious you’re a true ET supporter !
Well, you’re right, there’re not so much good multiplayer FPS.

Yes, I never played RTCW, it makes me see ET more like a new game, not a sequel. I understand RTCW fans saw ET like an RTCW 2. Anyway I like very much ET like it is, partly because it’s free but of course because it’s a good game.

One advantage I saw in the no-cost is the fact that you can makes your friends play with you more easilly than if each-one had to buy the game. You can too set up a LAN at work without law infringement. You can have a computer with Linux and ET which is 0 cost in software. There’s surely other advantages I don’t think of ATM. The only drawback is the eventual lack of support, but considering the game is not too buggy, I think it’s ok.

For a final note, I’m sure I don’t play this game as much as you all, so I don’t claim to have the absolute truth, it’s just my noobish POV.
