Has anyone thought of extending the original maps? For example in Goldrush, the first objective is to repair the tank and then follow it to the square. The second is to get the gold and escort the truck to the gate. The idea of extension could be then you have to follow the truck down to a harbour, build a bridge on the way or something. Or in Oassis where you have to capture the old city and then blow up the tank guns. The extension could be to escort the tank, which is in there, out of the gate and to some thing there, use the tank to blow something up perhaps. One could even connect these to maps escort the tank in Oasis to the city in Goldrush and then continue whit the Goldrush map.

Just some of my crazy ideas. :lookaround:

Just to clarify, I’m not making these maps. I wish I could make these maps but I can’t. This is more of a suggestion to mapmakers. :cool:

Without SD’s help it is not possible, except for Goldrush. SD has not released the .map files (/hint! hint!) so that the ‘world space’ can be edited/modified/continued. Goldrush was released to the public with Radiant as a sample map, which is why there are so many variants of that map.

Using etpro, you might be able to add new / additional objectives, so long as they fit in the existing map space, and don’t require too many entities (bits of the map that the game tracks for one reason or another). I have resigned myself to fixing bugs and improving gameplay in the stock maps, as I feel that it is unlikely that they will be handing the .map source files over to us mappers any time soon. With the source files, almost infinite variability would be possible, within the same constraints I mentioned above, except that additional world space would be possible.

Yeah i always fancied opening up the battery map, all those doors round the back, going down into some radio complex. That lighthouse as a vantage point to fight for… Oasis you have blown up the gun turrets take the tank and blast gates so you can blow them gates where the broken tank is and detroy something or other.

wishful thinking… some of the idea are hardly well though out… the maps take up main memory so they are kept to resonable sizes, conecting two could make it too big for some players also if defence dominated image how long it would take to finish

opening up the lighhouse are would require a lot of extra map to be drawn when on the beach and doest have a very good for the defence or attacker so why would it be used? bringing the back doors into play might work as it would split the vis and is closer to the objectives as long as there area wasnt massive wount make the map much bigger… would have to re think the objectives though maby the allies catured the main base then the second part of the map goes into the extra area or something
