Just finished both campaigns and What-ifs. All I can say is BOOOOOOO!

(SinDonor) #1

Because I want MORE!!! That was awesome. A few weird AI moments when I was hoping my bot teammates would do the main Obj for me b/c I didn’t wanna ever switch from my Engy, but otherwise, Brink was an excellent and exciting game through and through.

If the Engy wasn’t req’d on the main Obj, I’d either just cap ComPosts and enhance them, setup turrets and mines near focus points (Obj’s, chokes, ComPosts, etc), Look for Engy side Obj’s, like MG turret builds and barricades, or escort/defend. Almost always had no issue except a few times when the guy I was escorting felt his time was better spent killing baddies instead of refueling/hacking/whatevs. Not a huge deal, as I kept racking up kills and XP since the game would last a few minutes longer.

I run with a Heavy Engy, with either Chinzor or Minigun. Almost ALWAYS get a Medic and Assault to buff my health and ammo. I buff my own gun damage and throw out kevlar to Main Obj bots.

SOOO MUCH FUN!!! I don’t understand the hate and complaints. I really don’t.

Haters gonna hate. 'Baters gonna 'bate

So… Who do you think was right, SinDonor?

(SinDonor) #3

SPOILERS!!!

Being that I am ex-military, I sided the the Security at first. Of course, knowing what the Resistance knew, it’s hard to hate on them.

Both leaders are right to fight for their beliefs.

Leader of Security doesn’t want to pollute the Ark with anymore barbaric humans. Supposedly (according to their info) the remaining real world is still a total mess. Why risk the Ark just to make contact. Kind of selfish, but we’re talking about the fate of humanity here. The Security leadership has a job to do, and that’s to keep Ark inhabitants safe.

Resistance leadership is right to fight for equality on the Ark and water/food, but also is sympathetic to the rest of humanity not on the Ark. To make contact with the rest of the world at all costs without worrying about risk to the successful civilization on the Ark is a mixed bag. Also, I have a feeling the Resistance leadership doesn’t really know how bad it is out there.

Then again, maybe the Security leadership knows it ain’t so bad out there, but just doesn’t want to deal with anymore needy refugees, so they lie about the facts? Don’t know.

Great story, looking forward to the DLC!!! Until then, I’ll keep playing and try to main the other 3 class types.

(SinDonor) #4

On that note, maybe future DLC or Brink 2 will have Security vs Resistance vs Main-Landers! Like, the Main Landers really are this barbaric race (like in Mad Max 2/Waterworld) and all three now fight for the Ark. Or the Security and Resistance partner up to fight Main-Landers. Could have a cool beach-head level where the Ark peeps land on Main-Landers’ island base and attack.

Sure, both leaders stay true to what they believe, but to be honest… In my eyes the Resistance just seems weird and all that shiet, I can’t find anything right with what they believe in. Equal share I believe in, but I think it already is being distributed fairly, the Founders too seem to have it ****ty too, it just seems like they live in luxury becuase they got the better suites since, well… They built the damn place.

The Security and the Founders has sent out a plane on a mission before to find land, they never returned when they found it and they were brutally murdered on the ‘‘Outland’’. I just don’t understand why people would die if they told the public about their mission :l

So yeah, some managed to get off the Ark, but what now? Will they too suffer the same fate as those Security men?

All in all… I saved the Ark :stuck_out_tongue:

(OldMcNastyNutz) #6

I agree with you SinDonor! Fantastic game and story. I truly enjoyed the story even though very few details came out. I think as time continues the story will unfold.

I’d Hope SD would have more. I listened to all the audio logs and was hoping for more. This game could truly have an amazing story.

Spoilers!!

What do you think is up with the boat at the end?

My Thoughts: Founders pulling away from the Ark and creating another one? They already left land to go to their first sustainable manmade island. Why wouldn’t they just do it again?

But, do we really know for sure that the Security/Founders really sent a plane and the folks got murdered, or was it all a conspiracy to keep people happy on the Ark and not go out there? Maybe if they showed us some “video footage” of the outlanders attacking, it might be a bit more believable (although I’m sure that could have been staged as well.

Also, the Founders were demanding that the Security NOT resort to violence in the opening to the 1st mission, and the Security Captain was all “Yea whatever!”. So the Founders are a bit more sympathetic to the Resistance cause.

I think the lack of available drinking water and supplies would drive me to anger, especially if I was on the Ark working and not just laying around being a beggar. The Resistance are hard working guys who get ***** on all the time. They have a right to fight for equality while their leadership has a right to look for better living conditions. Once again, the Resistance leadership doesn’t know of the harsh conditions out there off of the ark. They are hoping things are better. With no guaranteed food, water or equality on the Ark, they figure it’s worth the risk.

(Freindly Fire) #8

I was under the impression the Ark was falling apart because of the Ackrail stuff was eroding, and that was the true reason to want off the Ark.

Yeah, I’d think it’s confirmed when this Founder lady in the audiologs speaks of it too, and I don’t think it’s a conspiracy, I mean… If they say it - people will get pissed and all that stuff saying it’s a conspiracy, if they don’t - well… Everything is like it usually is

To me it seems like Mokoena doesn’t like the Guests very much, he has probably been with the Security since… Forever, and has probably seen what they can do and does.

If I’d get a can of water once a day, and only that I’d probably be… Well a bit temperamented too, but everyone goes on that ration on the Ark, one just has to make the best of it I think?
Yes, they must work becuase if they don’t they can’t support all the Guests that has come to the Ark, everyone must work for it to keep afloat!

Taking the risk of making mankind extinct for better living doesn’t sound like the best playing card to me :l

(KnollDark) #10

The boat at the end of the final cutscenes…OMINOUS, also I got the prima guide which helped show everything on a streamlined chapter and I got a pretty good idea what one of the new maps is gunna be

The real question is, how did they know how they died?

I still side with the Resistance, mostly because of the mission where you need to defend the medical supplies and the security guys are told its a chemical weapon, too many lies and falsehoods on the security side commanders part for me to like them, they are too political for there own good.

Maybe they had a communication line?

‘‘AFFIRMATIVE, COMMANDER - WE HAVE FOUND LAND!’’
‘‘GOOD JOB, ENGIN… GOOD JOB, EVERYONE!’’
<later>
‘‘WE HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE! TH - OH MY GOD THEY KILLED RON WITH AN AXE’’
<later>
''THEY ARE EATING MEE - ‘’

Something like that? :stuck_out_tongue:

I see the first mission as a good example of the two-sided story thing, but here I too think the Security is right

Resistance: Our inside man is gonna get tortured and killed by Mokoena and his men

Security: They have given him a neuro-toxin, we must save him

So if he dies, they still think the Security did it

OH YEAH! I totally forgot about the Audio Logs. I know what I’m doing later.

The boat at the end is going towards the Ark, not away. I think what we’re going to see is another higher-up force/leadership who was watching the events unfold from the safety of their ship. The screen in the meeting room on the ship had pictures of both leaders on it. And the empty heli-pad. Is that heli going to and from the Ark or the mainland?

Here’s one thing I know: If ALL of the ice and snow melted on Earth, there’d still be lots of land above sealevel, Like LOTS! The oceans would only rise around 70m-100m. Googled it. There’s a lot of our planet that’s over 100m above sealevel.

Plus, (I don’t quite know the pop of Earth during Brink’s era before the oceans flooded), but 7 billion people could all fit in a space the size of Texas, even if we only built 1-story homes. Each person would have 1000sq/ft to call their own. The math is out there. Google “World Population fit in Texas?”. If we built 20-story buildings, then the world pop could fit in a state the size of Delaware or something.

So, with the oceans rising in the Brink storyline, sure, the destruction of coastal cities would be bad, but there should be sufficient time and space for most residents to move inland to higher ground. Global environment might be bad, but I still see clouds in the Brink videos. Clouds = precipitation = rain = drinking water. Not to count all the desalination plants that would have been built. We’d need more backstory of the mainlander/outland to really know what happened out there.

But it says they all died horrible deaths, its like the whole everyone died and their was no witnesses…so how do you know the story thing.

As for the turncoat they say that if security take him he was better off dead, also they say he was kidnapped when he seems to have gone of his own accord. Just look at the prison bust level where the guy ends up in the hospital wing and even the security guys ask how it happened.

I like the security soldiers, but the leaders seem like fascists who just want too keep the power they have.

I really wanted to like security, but they are lead by fascists.

(SinDonor) #15

Holy moly. OK, the Audio logs reveal A LOT OF GOOD INFO about the backstory of Brink. A MUST READ if you wanna know.

(Stormchild) #16

Actually, the mainlanders are all the missing females. But shhhhh !

(KAS--Will) #17

No… we did.

(SinDonor) #18

Jackpot!!!

(Jak Swift) #19

The resistence want equality, theres no rebutal against equality. peace

(Jak Swift) #20

To be hounest my theory on why there is no females/kids, is because they all got evacuated after the civil war broke out.

You have to remember bethesada are involved, we got some fallout stuff going on here, the main landers are probably the kids grown up, the woman, and the men who never went to the ark, like fallout haha.

Or im more drunk/higher then i thought and im rambling crap, anyway peace brothers.
