Hi, great work on ET. I’ve been playing Q3F for a while (as si.slats, anyone else here a q3f’er?)… Anyway…

  1. the value of scr_conspeed should also control the speed at which stats and topshots appear on the screen.

  2. what happened to cg_draw3dicons? Some more wolfenstein nostalgia on the hud would be great.

and finally, something that actually pertains to game balance. I can’t explain this without giving an example so here goes:
The map is fueldump and the allies have completed the foot bridge. An axis engineer has an active dynamine ticking away on the foot bridge. The allied engineer can do two things:
a) defuse the dynamite and get +6 xp
b) wait until the bridge explodes, rebuild it, and get +7

Sure its a difference of only 1 xp, but with other situations on other maps it could be larger. The way I see it, xp-greedy engineers are rewarded for halting their team’s progress.

How about something like this: Defusing a dynamite placed on a buildable object rewards the engineer X xp, where X = the number of points he would have got rebuilding. Defusing dynamite not placed on a buildable still rewards 6.

I don’t know if anyone is actually THAT much of an XP whore just for 1 point. I could be wrong, but I think most people do have a sense of a team objective even when the have no real idea who their teammates are (are is this just me).

Like I said, in this instance its just 1 point, but in other future maps or on different objectives, the differential could be larger.

It’s probabla more like: Do I run up to the Dyne, being in the open while defusing and an easy target, risking being blown to bits by the dyna or do I simply wait in some safe spot until the bridge is destroyed and rebuild it in 3 sec. ??
