Juan is for chumps without skill

(Cap_Ap) #1

If you use Juan, I have no respect for your game.

(Warchest_Andy) #2

Don’t be ridiculous. Of course he requires skill. You have to tap him, then tap the enemy. Sometimes several times. It can get very intense.

(Coup_de_grace) #3

Juan is literally an Artillery Cannon. Makes a big bang dealing painful destruction from a distance. Which is why when it comes to Juan positioning is key, making Gus the best partner.

I have to admit, without snipers on your team it can be rather tough to get rid of Juan. But you are looking at this the wrong way around, it isn’t Juan users are chumps without skill, but i CAN defeat you even if you have Juan on your team because

i HAVE SKILL

(Smouse) #4

You sound very bitter. Like you can’t defeat a squad featuring Juan. That is your problem, not ours.

(g00n) #5

I don’t like Juan not because of the skill some use him when combined with a med and another sniper,( eg. on old town map). I just feel he was built for close to medium assassin work than sitting long range with snipe rifles. He can be beaten on some maps and the experience you fight what you dislike the more chances you will find a way to neuter it with more satisfaction, even though you lose

(KINONEZ21) #6

Hahaha man you made my day xD

Juan is a pretty good toon, he is sniper tank, but has a weakness like every other player, in his case is movement, that’s why many pair him with Gus, although Juan can be defeated, Megan is a good opponent against him, she has the speed and the weapons to do so, instead of complaining about Juan you should find your way to defeat him.

(Mitsid) #7

You are wrong. It is no Juan, but your skill and experience that really matters. I believe I can prove that to you. I offer you the following experiment - you can choose a map and take as many Juan in your team as you want, and I wont have a single Juan in my team. Let us see if you will be able to win at least 2 games out of 3.

(Cap_Ap) #8

I can, and often do. And I don’t use Juan to do it. Skillz

(Cap_Ap) #9

I would be happy to play you, neither of us using Juan. It would be a true test of skill.

(Catnadian) #10

On paper, yes. In theory, Megan gets pushed back/out of cover when the enemy commander sees what you’re doing and then Megan loses 210 of her 200HP. Now you’re down a Soldier, and you’ve still got a 300HP problem that wants to put bullets through everyone. You could use two Megans maybe, but at that point you’re overspecializing, and that’s a whole new set of problems.

If Sniper Rifles were maybe buffed a teensy bit in damage with each getting a 1AP increase in cost (barring the Electri-Fryer, probably), likely what you’d see is a return to normalcy in sniper deployments, and Juan would be a lot less overexposed. Maybe people would start using Pete again because as it stands, against Juan/Gus deployments he’s practically useless.

(Smouse) #11

Well then why do you mind? Easy coins/victory for you then.

(Smouse) #12

I think Favela and Beach address the sniper happy issue. When I play favela and go first I never bring a long range weapon. At Beach I only bring one. One huge reason I would love the chat function added to the game is you can negotiate a certian setup. For instance you both agree on a match with no long range snipers.
Chat seems difficult to implement though.

(Catnadian) #13

The answer to “probable balance issue” shouldn’t be “map where balance issue is not a factor”, though. I’m all for close-range maps but saying they address the issue is tricky.

(KINONEZ21) #14

I am fully aware of that, and it’s happend before, but just as Megan can get pushed out of cover so can Juan, that’s where strategy and skill come in, you have to know where to position your troops, and not relay on a single one to win the match, That’s where variety becomes crucial.

(Mitsid) #15

I would not be happy to play someone who has "no respect for my game’. I often play with a guy who has 3 juan in his team and I won 80 percent of such matches. So Juan is not a key for a win. But still I like Juan because he is a very usefull toon. It is up to you if you want to use Juan or not, but you cant tell other players which toons should be used in the match with you.

(Cap_Ap) #16

Mind? I just said I have no respect for chumps.

(Cap_Ap) #17

And I don’t. But if you use Juan, you are a chump.

(Coup_de_grace) #18

If you use the commander you are a chump. >.< >.< Like a boss:cool:

(Ciakgb) #19

Ok, lets take some of the emotion out of it–Jaun is a bit much. What the hell is a “sniper tank” anyway? Haven’t seen one of those on the battlefield:)

I think the best, easiest nerf would be to simply lower his hit points. Snipers should be 250 hp cap, but hey if you want, make it 275.

It does limit things that a Juan with a botherer is like a zillion coins, but as the game matures it is true that we were seeing a rash of multiple juans.

Another thing that would really screw with the Jaunitas of the world, 17 energy! Ha, try to duck and cover now, you hoody boy you!

(Maximilian3ek) #20

I like people use Juan in Favela. Because I use Commander, Pete with Katana, Madame with Electric-Flyer, 2 Ivan with knife, one Gus.
They have no way to escape or shoot.
