jet pack = jump pack?

is the jet pack a fly pack or a jump pack? because in the gameplay vidz you see people only make big jumps with it. i thought the strogg could fly with them?

From what Ive read and understand it works for “short bursts”. So in short, yes i think its is a jump pack that glides slighty, maybe.

yeah…would be bad if they could just fly with it over the enemys head and to objective or smth…

didn’t one of the screenshots show a strogg flying with jet and firing with gun at the same time? And we all know that wasn’t possible in E3 demo anymore.

In which way?

A jump pack just boosts one in the air but does not hover, so you need some bursts to get down alive. (Could be seen in BF Secret Weapons of W W2)
A jet pack on the other hand can go up, hover or decrease height with a constant speed.

I think it’s something hybrid: more like a jump-pack with a hover capability, but still a limited number of bursts to increase altitude. (Chargebar maybe?)

i think the jumpack to the strogs anwer to the quad bike. the one man transport craft but with no firepower. this would make me think its a jump pack as you would want to increase manovorability like the quad bike but not give them total freedom

The jetpack has stroyent bombs. It is not toally unarmed.

Just consider yourselves lucky that it is a ‘jump pack’ and not a ‘jet pack’.

I could own your whole team with it if it was a jet pack, from my Tribes experience :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a flying jet pack, but since it has a limited ‘jump energy’ and it has to recharge (you can see that on the videos), it works as a kind of a high jump pack.

Well there is the chaingun, and arguably the sniper rifle. It’s the movement ability of a jet pack that gives the advantage to someone that knows how to use it… ever watch a non-tribes player play Tribes? “Get off the ground!” I shout continually.

Yes, you were pretty much dead when you touched the ground. But I never really managed to keep my energy steady when flying, I always ran out of it.

Reminds me of using the jump jets in the Mechwarrior series. Though I guess you can’t pop up from behind cover and launch guided missiles at anyone. :wink:

I think jump jet is probably the most accurate description from the vids I’ve seen, but it also made me think that with the already larger size of the Strogg, it makes them an even bigger physical target, in war, small target is good
