i am very sad that the official etqw Site is down at the moment.
We are running one of the Top3 Servers worldwide and i just want to ask about…
some Players who are using “special” configurations to stay unhitable if they where shoot.
In the past time our server was visited from player who are only hardly killable cause they are using some special c_vars…

Therefor i have added the following Punkbuster-rules to our server:

pb_sv_cvar net_clientprediction IN 20 25
pb_sv_cvar net_clientmaxprediction IN 10 1500
pb_sv_cvar net_clientmaxrate IN 16000 30000

Since i have added them we are free from such players.
Does any other serveradmin has similar experience with “unhittable” players?

Welcome and of course some player use cvar to their advantages, not sure if clientprediction is really THE only reason why they are unhittable.

you forgot to limit max FPS , everyone with FPS 30 or higher should be banned off your server.
and, 2 or more cores processors should be not allowed on your server.
lets punish all that bad players with different config!

Put them aka ‘real kool guyz’ on default config & their “skill” disappear like poo.

There is not a single setting that affects your aim at all (apart from mouse sensitivity obviously), so there’s not even a bit of truth in what you said.

Sure there isnt such a thing, but tweaked config can make a difference. Tweaking graphics to lowest possible can make fps more stable on lower spec PCs which in turn can affect your ability to track target smoothly and you can also make visible range bigger giving you an advantage as there are plenty of long range weapons and vehicles.
Some of those cvars can not be set to the limits with the GUI through setup options and so players familiar with cvars and console can tweak their settings further giving them an advantage over those who dont have that knowledge.
There were plenty of tweaked config examples in old forums so its a shame forums are gone for good (i believe they are) also some of them can be still found on various etqw based sites.

That’s right, all “masters” play on low settings, their graphix looks like wolf3D from '92 year.

This “knowledge” is okay, when not enforces glitches, simulates hax.

My theory&practice is that etqw engine is entire glitch, (after unlocking FPS, some patch, etc…).

And some ppl use it to their “fair” advantage.

It’s funny how you have no clue what you’re talking about. Unlocking fps and client prediction all have nothing to do with aim, none of those can ever be used as an aimbot.
And as far as I’m concerned, the definition of hax is code outside of the game, not code the game allows.
