Javelin Ammo Range

For those of you who’ve played Phoenix, have you ever tried to chase down someone who could use a heal but they keep running away from you even after you’ve asked them to stop for a heal via voice chat? This is the same way for Javelin, but with the newly reduced range and rate, it gets even more frustrating. Does anyone else agree that Javelin’s ammo aura didn’t need a nerf or less of one? Because I know I’m not the only one, as a few people on DB’s Steam Community have also taken notice of the rather unnecessary nerf to Javelin’s ammo generator.

Javelin’s ammo armour was stupidly OP on released. It was without a doubt the best ammo ability. The range was insane, it could give ammo before the match even started, and it pretty much made every other firesupport’s ammo useless. The marginal cooldown restoration on ammo pack direct hits and the next to useless blocking strategy with ammo stations do not make up for that.

But it needs to be considered that javelin is still a very good merc, even post nerf. Her other stats, ability and weapons are extremely good, so having one okayish passive ability is fine.
If someone wants ammo, they need to come get it. Same with phoenix. Anyone who doesn’t is an idiot and doesn’t deserve it.

TL;DR, Javelin’s ammo ability should not be balanced based on how noobs play the game. If someone won’t come get ammo from you, that’s their fault. ATM in the hands of any skilled player, Javelin is the best firesupport merc currently. Having a not so great ammo ability is fine when you consider what she is; basically an assault class with a firesupport ability thrown in there for extra measure.

I think they doubled down on ammo nerfs a bit much. I’d revert eaither the rate or the range to the previous values.

Ammo isn’t really that important honestly. Running out of ammo should be a tactical threat, but people die so much anyways that it doesn’t even matter.

I guess I’m just so goddamn good that i die too rarely and run out of ammo on regular basis. Fire supports are my most played mercs by far for that reason.

I agree that giving ammo to teammates needed a nerf, but with how it is now, she does more harm than good having an ammo-giving ability.

Currently, it takes 12 seconds to replenish a player’s ammo from 0 to full (15 seconds if they have Spares), and 144 seconds (for emphasis, that’s 2 minutes and 24 seconds) to replenish herself from 0 to full.

A lot can happen in 12 seconds, so having potentially half your team hugging your butt hole for that 12 seconds puts your team in a terrible position, and opens up a potential explosive multi-kill.

As for her giving ammo to herself, it was terrible before, and it’s still terrible now. No other fire support would ever run out of ammo, yet when playing Javelin I find myself running out of ammo whenever I go on even a small spree. At this point you may as well K-out, unless there is another fire support nearby.

Javelin should have to work to give ammo. It shouldn’t be auto matic.

The ammo generator needed a nerf but it needs the range it had on release, or more. Giving half as much ammo as ammo stations is good, but you shouldn’t have to be on top of her to get it.

I like the dynamic of jav running by/you running to or taking cover and giving the small amount of ammo its kinda cool and fine where its at. although I think where people run to a problem is relying on a jav to supply your team with its ammo I think shes a good support to the fire support.
I think the self giving ammo thing could use a tweak not sure on the rates tho, just feel its bit too low/too slow

The range nerf was maybe a bit to harsh but the rate was definitely needed…way to easy to top the score just because you could hand out ammo and get tons of gold ammo medals.

Yeah, I’ve seen this happen too. I mean, imo it’s better now than it was before but I still wish it was a healing pulse type thing. I just don’t understand the dev’s decision to release her in this state, and then try to fix her but barely make a difference. Was she even tested?

If you were maybe you’d make more of an effort to keep control of the ammo crate then xP
Like I said, it’s a tactical threat. If you’re an MLG player who constantly needs more ammo to fuel your headshot machine, then you need to be conscious of how much ammo you have and where you can go to restock it.

Constantly being full on ammo makes the game so much more boring imo, I like the challenge of having to fight into an ammo crate with only my knife, or sprint to the enemy spawn to collect an ammo pack some random skyhammer left.

Every second spent sitting at ammo crate is not a second spent on shooting enemies in the head. Can’t have that.

I think it is good right now. It takes a lot of time to get full ammo, but yet because jav is mobile you can easily follow her, shoot and get ammo while being close to her.
I am sure you need a lot of ammo, but you only need some to shoot.

I actually think, that her ammo supply ability should be removed and she should not be a fire support. She is an assault. But the biggest issue I have with her ammo supply is the inability to supply herself. Having her in a team means,that everyone has ammo except her and that you need another fire support. I always run out of ammo with her.
