Can’t be that bad of an ability if I consistently got the gold ammo badge everytime i played her.

But i actually have to do a little work (pressing E, i know, such labour) when playing as other fire support, whereas I literally just had to walk near my team mates to get gold badge with javelin (not to mention the ammo she gave when spawning in)

Aye, before the nerf the range of Javelin’s ammo dispenser was about as or bit larger than the Phoenix’s heal pulse, which meant that while you didn’t need to get close enough to hug them, but you still had within be a merc and a half from them. A Phoenix or Javelin who’s at the MG closest to where the EV starts on Chapel couldn’t give support to anyone not on the catwalk that said MG sits on, and that catwalk is only a third of the area that the defending team typically occupies when the EV hasn’t moved, meaning another ammo merc would be still a good idea as both backup (because Javelin’s generator only works if she can move) and to keep Javelin from running out of ammo herself.
And on a side note, Javelin can’t get ammo another Javelin.

It’s funny how even a fire support with passive ammo gen manages to not help their team and still run low on ammo themselves.
