It's time

Its time to join our forces
Coders,3d devs, skinners, gfx

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free and open source multiplayer first-person shooter set during World War II and heavily focused on teamwork. More than a decade after its release, after spending countless hours of escorting tanks and trucks, stealing gold and radar parts and transmitting confidential documents, there comes a project which aims to relaunch and dust off a game which consistently refused to go down.

We have come to the time where we need to decide if we want the game to stay alive further or not, ET:Legacy’s developers have done an amazing job and they really need more help. I’ve started on the moddeling part no matter if I am good enough or not I will
continue until all models are replaced with new ones to get ET:legacy of the wolfenstein restriction.
Kemon is doing a great job replacing textures and at the same time mapping on Bergen.
Irata and his crew of coders is working and working on code to get rid of bugs and to get new stuff as a new renderer in.
I think it is about time that all of us, who love ET, need to stop thinking, ‘I’mnot good enough to help’. All of us can take a grip and help get ET: Legacy where we want it
I mean then all good old modders and new ones should join in. Also as a modcreator it will benefith you to join in and know the new parts of code when you keeping your mod up to date with ET:Legacy for 100% compatibility. My hope was that guys like the silent, nitmod, jaymod, etpub and others should join their forces with Irata and his coding crew.
that Ironmonkey (vs_monkey), ischbinz, detoni, firefly and others would join me on the moddeling bit.
that guys like:Giancarlo Schiano italy,DimitriZer0,Berzerkr (GER),Dr.EViL,«ÇHRïÞtOR»® and others join in the making of skins for playermodels or textures for the game or other models.
That mappers like:Loffy, Chavo One, Drakir, MLB guys well in fact all mapper old or new should join in and start on remaking the original and other good maps up to the Bergen standard…

Its really that time guys! One last shot for the game you have had most fun with EVER!
Greets,
Thunder of TheWolfTeam

Good post here, Thunder!

Inspiring post.It is good to see ET community is still alive. I wish someone could create something like rtcw legacy. Unfortunately rtcw community is almost dead.

(ronboy) #4

Indeed, Wolf ET is still alive, if you’ve seen the videos that I’ve uploaded to Youtube. Rtcw legacy would be an awesome idea, but the problem would be getting enough interest with getting a development team together. As I’ve said before, the community needs more unification and less separation. This would help the situation tremendously.

(wolfETplayer) #5

Yeah, getting people together is the most difficult part in pre-development stage. Some modders retired, some doesn’t have time for such big project, some have their own projects and ideas. If community is big enough it will be much easier. But RTCW MP community is completely dead. Everyone switched to ET. RTCW SP community is still alive. But comparing to ET community it is almost dead.

(twt_thunder) #6

Well 2hours in week would do a lot and most of us actually have that time… If you got a 100 people doing 2 hour of work in a week… Do the math…

(wolfETplayer) #7

I would be a miracle to gather 3 people together on some RTCW project. Not even talking about 100.

(ronboy) #8

You are right. Surely there’s something that we can do to improve the situation?

(twt_thunder) #9

I personally dont see the big difference, the 2 games are almost the same…

(KeMoN) #10

I didn’t expect such a big feedback. Thank you for the interest.
I agree with the post above by thunder, RtCW and W:ET are closely linked. As a matter of fact ET: Legacy is collaborating with the Dark Army and I myself am working together with Titeuf seperately. Besides that I have also shared previous texture work for ET: Legacy with ioRtCW and I have discovered several of them also in the RealRTCW project.
I feel like both communities can work together on things like assets, because the shared amount of models and textures is probably around 70% of the individual asset amounts.

(twt_thunder) #11

There will be only few things missing in mapobjects as far as I know, and for me its ok if rtcw use it too

(-SSF-Sage) #12

Inspiring words! I am glad to see you joining forces! I think it is a very good idea. This will benefit all projects that may share the assets. After all it is a huge part of the work. I think too many projects have fallen for being stubborn about making everything on their own. So it is great that you are wiser than that. And ofc if one fears becoming too similar it is always easy to tweak it to a different style when the ground work is done.

Good post Thunder! Nice to see you guys are so determined. Just wanted to mention that your URL for the IRC is broken, there is twice http:// in the link.

Also, I’m still working on Wolf:MP stuff. I guess if ET:Legacy can integrate Doom3 models, you could use all my assets, I wouldn’t bother at all.

Finally, if you need help or a favor for a model, contact me anytime Thunder! I do my best, especially when it is easy :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, BackSnip3! We haven’t seen each other in so long. Are you still interested in Rtcw? I’ve improved greatly as a mapper, if you’re interested in seeing my newer works. They are on my website on my forum signature.

On topic: The Wolf ET and Rtcw communities joining forces would be a great idea. Maybe this would increase the interest in both games with more people playing/mapping/modding?

(twt_thunder) #15

I’ve said earlier that TheWolfTeam could also host rtcw forum, but then you guys who know this most needs to join in as admins… I can’t keep track of more atm…

(twt_thunder) #16

And backsnip3 thx, I might follow you up on that when I’ve reached playermodels

(SiNRay) #17

Sound slike a good idea if Thunder would host both ET and RTCW. One forum for both games and all assets, maps, models etc in one place.

(ronboy) #18

I wouldn’t mind being an admin.
