It's offtopic, I know, but i need some information!!

Hello,

I know I’m going way offtopic on this one, but still, i hope some one can help me. By luck, I managed to find this site / forum. Started reading a bit and so on… when suddenly, I encounterd something familiar. But first, let me please introduce myself.

My name is Bart and I live in Belgium, my two main hobbys are the history of the Second World War and Gaming. I also am a Guide at the Fortress of Eben-Emael, and when I was searching through this forum, i noticed that someone was busy making an ET map of the fortress.

Unfortianatly, MadJack’s website is offline and I’m not getting a response from any Private Message I sent. Allways willing to help, I would like to help MadJack on his mission to make this map come true, but as I said, he isn’t responding at all.

Does anyone know any other website of him, or does anyone know him in private? If yes, could you tell him that there is someone curious after his Eben-Emael plans, and that I would like to offer some help.

Again, I know this is way offtopic, but I really hope somebody could help me …

Best regards from Belgium,

Bart Geraerts,
Guide Fortress Eben-Emael.

But…sorry, i don’t know MadJack…

Visit www.real-et.com, the site about E.T. and WW2 !

Unfortunately I can not help you.
But may be you should add your post to his thread about the map in the level designers forum.

Done,
Basicly, it isn’t offtopic… it’s about the historical accuracy of a map… and since we’re at a mapping site, why not post it…

Ah well, greetings from Belgium…

its definatly not off topic

Hi there Bart!

No, it’s certainly not off topic: welcome!

What an interesting job you have. I regret I have never visited the Eben-Emael Fortress, but have always been fascinated by it. When we were in the planning stage of Enemy Territory, we were looking at famous commando raids of WWII, and of course the May 10th 1940 raid on Eben-Emael came up. I wrote up an initial concept based very loosely on the glider assault l but it never got beyond the planning stage. I hope the reason it didn’t get made by us was the corny title I gave it: “You’ve got Emael”.

I always thought that Eben-Emael is a fantastic setting for an ET map and I hope that someone makes it soon. We’ll try to track down MadJack for you : )

In the meantime, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! I’m off to eat my own weight in Turkey. I shall return a wiser, wider man. Laterz.

:moo:

Well, I would try to make a map / storyline of it, but the knowledge isn’t in my head so … I did experimented with Radiant once, but my Casemate was all screwed up, so :expressionless:

Hi Bart, I’m sure someone here must have an email address for him?

“You’ve got Emael”
That’s priceless hehe !

(Junkers) #9

Hi eRRoLfLyNN,

That’s the problem, he doesn’t return any PM’s I sent him, his website is offline, and I guess his email is offline too …

Anyhow, the real thing what happend at Eben-Emael is slightly different and less humorous then “you’ve got Emael”…
But, talking about history is offtopic :stuck_out_tongue: unless you want me to do my story :stuck_out_tongue:

Bongoboy writes his concepts with crayons :skull:

@ Bart, I just thought that maybe he was taking a break from gaming etc and was avoiding forums and mapping talk. If that’s the case maybe he’s just not picking up his PMs, so maybe an email would reach him faster. Just an idea, but you’re probably right.

BongoBoy, back from holiday?

Anyhow, putting this topic in highlight once more, you never know…

(Bongoboy) #12

:bump:
Yes indeed, hope everyone had a good holiday. Or at least a holiday.

:moo:

Maybe a mapper would like to hook up with me in order to create the perfect Eben-Emael map?! :stuck_out_tongue:

Just an idea…

By the way, did you found his data? contact etc?
