Is walking slow supposed to reduce stamina bar?
Just noticed this, I dont remember this happening in RTCW, or just wasnt paying attention to it until now.

Well if walking slow takes away from your stamina bar that’s just plain retarded. I haven’t actually noticed it… I know the only time I’ve used it was in RtCW when I was a medic or a luit with some packs out… looked like a businessman.
But ahhh, if it takes stamina to walk at a normal speed… then I have NO comment, except that’s retarded. So one comment I guess.
I use it all the time, good for walking over mine fields and stuff like that (as an engy). It does not use your stamina. Only sprinting does.
Sprint Walking, which is a fast way to walk (but silently) does use your stamina. This is down by pressing both buttons at the same time. Or if you toggle cl_run and then sprint.
“both buttons”? Both which buttons? You can do walk by pressing a direction, run by pressing shift-direction, are you saying there is something else?
I was hitting the ‘walk slow’ button, and my stamina bar was going down. I use ‘always run’ and have a walk slow button bound, which you guys shld use often, a alot of folks hunt by sound <— I do.
Anyway, I dont remember using the walk slow button reducing stamina in RTCW …
Not sure about this so I posted. Anyone know ?
And Ive never heard of hitting sprint and walk slow at same time, and I was not actually using both at same time.
Prone moves the same speed as walk/crouch also. I remember reading somewhere that if ya crouch it increases stamina charge rate( I tried it and see no difference, was another mod maybe i was thinkin of).
Here is a script for a run/walk toggle here: ET4Dummies
// Run-walk toggle w/ screen On-Off display
set alwaysrunoff “+speed;echo ^5Tippy ^5Toes: ^1ON^7;set tippytoetoggle vstr alwaysrunon”
set alwaysrunon “-speed;echo ^5Tippy ^5Toes: ^2OFF^7;set tippytoetoggle vstr alwaysrunoff”
set tippytoetoggle “vstr alwaysrunoff”
bind h “vstr tippytoetoggle”"
//From ET4Dummies w/minor changes
I find that I will crouch to be quite more than using the run/walk toggle, but there are times I have found it very usefull.
And walking, crouching, prone don’t use up your sprint.
Jumping and /or Pressing the sprint button are the only ways your stamina goes down. ( or it’ll go down to zero by a panza…splattt)
fast fingers and twinkle toes : ) nice script
so there is a price to being stealthy ? I know crouch doesnt use up run juice, Im just surprised that walk slow does … I figured it would help recharge stamina bar by walkin slow, not eat it up.
Does anyone know if it was always this way ? RTCW, ET:Test ? anyone ? Bueller ? anyone?
Walking Does NOT reduce stamina, same w/RTCW.
LOL, reminds me of the time I gave that Run/Walk script in an autoexec above to a new member and we was in 64 person Radar and I saw that he had taken the objective (cool) but then he was just stopped in the side entrance area, I finally found him up in the area above, just standing in the corner. He was days old to the game and RTCW, but I knew he Knew where to go… after a min or so, and me figuring we had enough back up. He Types out “I CANT RUN”…
Here are all the walking speeds, and buttons requiered to be pressed (When default).
The Default: Always Run (no added key needed, just press forward)
Always Run + Sprinting (shift key)
Walk Silently (caps lock)
Walk Silently Faster (caps lock + shift)
Basicly these things are toggle between three vars/actions:
>>> CL_run, +speed, +sprint
The first two are two different ways to do the same thing:
1- CL_Run variable: This one toggles the always run feature, not to be confused with sprinting. By default the game has it on, but you can turn it off temporarily using capslock (+speed), toggle it off in the options menu, or add a bind key to toggle it off in-game (bind x “toggle cl_run”). Turning it off makes you walk silently, which has its uses.
2- +Speed action (capslock): This one toggles cl_run temporarily, and requieres you to keep holding the button. Some people prefer to toggle cl_run, so they don’t have to hold a button. If cl_run is set to 1 (always run) +speed will make you walk. If cl_run is set to 0 (walk) +speed will make you run like you usually would. Walking is completly silent. This options does not use the sprint bar.
3- +Sprint (shift): This is one is the one everyone knows and usually uses it. It makes you temporarily move faster than what you usually can, and uses up your sprint bar. If you are in Always Run mode, you could use +speed to run faster. If you are in Walk mode, you could use +speed to walk faster, but still be silent.
I just retested it on a server and indeed walking slow DID NOT reduce stamina bar.
But it did last night on quakeshit … very strange.
Shld have tested it before posting.
No clue what could have caused it, maybe my CFG burped, or someone laced my crack w/ goofballs, again.
The problem is that pressing NUM LOCK will automaticly make you sprint.
Just turn NUM LOCK OFF.
no shit, that might explain alot - I use number pad like the llama I am
