Is this game dying?

(doxjq) #41

None of the guys I play Dirty Bomb with play Dirty Bomb any more so it’s pointless. They got sick of the repetitiveness and lack of new content so moved on to Overwatch. Tbh that game is just as repetitive in my eyes, I’m sure they’ll get sick of it soon, but in the mean time it’s just me playing Dirty Bomb now.

But for some reason our playerbase has grown again over the last week. Seriously what happened? It’s double if not tripled for no reason what so ever haha.

Also, to be honest, if they’re anything like me they won’t enjoy meet ups and scheduling times. I get in the mood to play Dirty Bomb and some days I am just not in the mood to play Dirty Bomb at all. I’ve tried things like this in other games in the past, but it rarely ever works out.

This is why I’ve never joined a team in practically any game because as soon as I have a schedule or “have” to get online at a certain time, I lose interest. Starts feeling more like a job than a hobby. I like to have freedom to just jump on and play whenever I feel like it.

I feel ya, but it never has to be strict, its just a way of getting them servers populated!

Doesn’t just have to be friends, could just group invite/friend invite all random strangers you play against too, any time you feel like playing post an event if people are around they will come, if they don’t no biggy.

But I totally understand why anyone wouldn’t want to do that, most of us barely get time to play games let alone spam people to play xD.

We have less than 1000 players online right now which is unheard of for Dirty Bomb. I’m not sure where all the players are going either. Although this is the low-point of the day, I remember having 3000+ players on at all times since I started playing about a year ago.

I have noticed more bugs as well as some performance issues. My guess is that this might be the culprit on top of the other issues.

It’s 9:21 on a tuesday morning in europe. It’s 00:21 on the west coast and 3:21 on the east coast. In Sydney it’s 17:21 and 15:21 in Singapore.

It’s literally the single worst time for a player count right now. Everyone is either at work or sleeping.

Yeah, I know it’s the lowest point of the day, but I’ve never seen less than 1000. Not even less than 2000 until recently. Granted there’s also school starting up/already started for most people, but it’s still surprising compared to the rest of the last year.

I’m not saying the game is dying by any means, but it’s definitely losing consistent players. Like others have said, the majority of my Dirty Bomb friends have left. There’s still a few hanging around that I get to play with occasionally when my internet likes to work.

I don’t think there’s any reason to panic though because a lot of people will come back as more updates are released and if the bugs/performance issues get squashed!

Not only that, but since people are comparing current numbers to those of a year ago I would like to point out ya’ll do also remember it was around the time when Open Beta launched on Steam, right? Name a game which did not lose players after initial hype and stage X launch (alpha, beta or full or w/e) and sure keep comparing such numbers by all means then for what I care.

(The_N00Ba) #48

I think bontsa doe shave a point on how past events have affected the player base and should be kept in mind.

(Jan S.) #49

Just to let you all know, there’s ± 2,570 players right now  So there’s no need to worry.

(doxjq) #50

I’m expecting to see a huge drop in players today any way - BF1 open beta coming out and all that.

(bontsa) #51

Same was expected of OW launch.

And guess what happened.

(doxjq) #52

Fair point, but to be honest I saw more people show hatred towards Overwatch from the Dirty Bomb community than love haha, so I wasn’t completely shocked to see minimal loss of players. BF1 on the other hand, seeing lots of people highly praise it.

Personally I’m not a fan of the Battlefield series though, so I’m not going anywhere.

You know what should die? This thread.
It just looks bad.

(TheStrangerous) #54

coughOrigincough

I’d rather play an online game I enjoy very much, with 1000 players. Instead of online game I don’t enjoy, with 50K population.

I have a “Stuegon Law” dilemma when it comes to enjoying online games.
There’s always some off-putting issue or element, that discourages me from ever playing certain multiplayer. Dirty Bomb is a rarity I enjoy. Sure, nothing groundbreaking happens that much, with the current update frequency, but I have other hobbies to keep me interested as well.

(AnimeDude) #55

Not enough updates to keep me interested. Also the stable framerates and responsive menus keep me coming back to overwatch.

(Aazhyd) #56

I keep coming back every now and then, but quickly quit after 1 or 2 games. The game is highly unbalanced and lack of real updates makes it feel the same.

(Tanker_Ray) #57

More like your hope for this game is dying.

(Icecoal) #58

Can we kill this thread plox ?

(bgyoshi) #59

You’re assuming anyone is interested in it.

Battlefield without helicopters is like Dirty Bomb without guns.

Pointless.

Just like all those players that were going to drop when OW was released. And it barely made a dent and then went back to normal?

F2P games vs. paid games adds a bit of armor to the F2P games when new games are released it seems. F2P games killing themselves is more the enemy than other new paid releases.
