Is there mercs favoured by experienced players?

(SirSwag) #1

When I first started playing Dirty Bomb I tended to stick to Aura and sparks because I always seemed to finish much higher on the scoreboard as a medic. Then as time went on I gained a love for Proxy, and Bushwacker and then to Fletcher. In all this time I’ve always kept away from Fragger as I always regarded his loadout as boring compared to other mercs. But now I can’t get enough of him and play very well with him equipped. I was wondering if this is a consistent thing for all players, and whether there are mercs particularly in each category (Damage dealing, engineer, medic, recon) that are generally favoured more by experienced players.

Off the top of my head

Skyhammer
Sawbonez
Bushwacka
Vasilli
Fragger

All of them are rock solid choices for a lot of scenarios, so they’d be the first to get imo.

Though, I think Red Eye is who I’d prefer over Vasilli, the only reason Vasilli is better is because his headshots gib.

Stoker once he comes out. Especially among the CBT-Vets.

@Grave_Knight as soon as Stoker comes out I’m going to spam the living sh*t out of his Molotovs and I’m sure the competitive players will too.

[ ALL ANSWERS SUBJECT TO MANY FACTORS i.e MAP or GAMETYPE ]

Fragger : Probably the best all-round “Breach and Clear” mercenary. Relatively tanky (150hp from memory), Grenades excellent for clearing rooms, if cooked correctly near impossible to dodge. Has access to M4, BR16 and LMG, which are all high-power weapons

Sawbonez : Your ideal medic. Amazing healing with large medic packs, able to heal zero to a hunna reel quik. has access to the Crotzni, which in many eyes is the best smg, competing with the Kek. Standard amount of hp (110 i believe) and move speed. The perfect mix of aggression and support

Bushwacka / Bushwanker : Your best defensive engineer [subject to opinion]. Access to the Kek10, arguably the best smg, very high dps. Crossfires with his sentry can drop a Rhino in a matter of a second with good accuracy, and also has access the quick defusing/planting/repairing.

Vasilli : Back-line support mercenary, in the right hands can be more deadly than any other mercenary. Heart-Beat Sensor used correctly can promote prefiring enemies which will 90% of the time result in winning the battle.

Skyhammer : Your go-to EV Disabler. Despite the long cooldown of the airstrike, it is the only air-support ability that can take out an EV with a single use (Arty requires a minimum of 3 Salvo Runs, Kira requires a second Orbital Laser). High hp (130/140 I believe), and has access to the M4, BR16 and AK47

Hope this helps.

Don’t forget to trap them in the room with the ammo station. Let them burn. >:D

Use Ammo Station as bait, Throw Molotovs at anyone around Ammo Station - seems like a plan.

Nah. I was thinking use the ammo station to block one of the exits and maybe bullets to block the other. That’s assume the ammo station doesn’t take damage from molotovs.

Well yeah it would make sense if it didn’t but a little tactic i’ve come up with was placing down the ammo station using it as cover and surprise surprise just kill em with FIRE.

That does require less setup.

@Grave_Knight But it can still work can’t it.
Grave_Knight But it can still work can’t it.
Well that’s kind of what I mean. Mine is a bit more convoluted. If you can pull it off it would probably be beautiful but yours is a bit more simple and easier to pull off. And to be honest, simple tactics are better than convoluted ones.

(Zoe) #15

From experience, Arty only needs 2 salvo runs to take down an EV. Combine that with the short cooldown on the ability and you’ve got yourself a spammable, affordable version of an airstrike.

Imagine the spawn camping abilities of the whole Molotovs thing. Excited for Stoker? @Grave_Knight

(FireWorks) #17

I think we are waiting for the reintroduction of Stoker for a good reason. He was a pain and Molos will cause more rage than Phantom did at his launch. The area denial is nothing Im missing currently and I hope he will not come back soon. 1-2 Molos to ensure every C4 goes off, its just meh.

(TheOrangePhantome) #18

TBH @gg2ez my idea was more for chokr points but spawncamping in general is bad and stoker wont make it way too worse.

That’s easy to deal with. Don’t shoot and calmly run through it than shoot said Stoker dead for wasting it.

@Grave_Knight aren’t you forgetting about the fact that you’re spawning in fire and taking damage from the get-go, Stoker has guns too.
